Hello everyone my name is Gordon, and will be soon Fulltime RVing once the house is sold, plan to put it on the market next month. I attended the RV Dreams Rally in Hershey a number years ago and had beed planning this for the past couple of years. I'm now retired (Twice) and will be solo rving with my dog. I purchased a Ford F350 turbo diesel short bed. I plan on getting a 5th wheel. Questions: what kind of hitch would be best for a short bed, also planning on getting a used 2011 Wildcat 343FLR made by Forest River. Has anyone know any thing about this 5th wheel? Does a $2000 a month budget seem possible? I'm retired military and plan to stay at RV parks on military bases, has anyone had any issues with using miitary rv parks? I'm sure I will have lots more questions once my home is sold. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome Gordon.....Single RVing is a good thing, your gonna love it out here and there is a great bunch of people and helpful info here!!!!!!
Im a Class A type so I cant help you on the hitch
2000 a month is doable , there are several of us that run on less!!!...(of course the price of fuel is not helping again)
there are alot here that use the military parks and I have not seen any complaints

Gordon,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will find a lot of help here.
With regards to a hitch for a short bed truck, you will want a sliding fifth wheel hitch, but you'll have to decide whether you want to work with a manual one or an automatic one. If you go to Google's "YouTube" link and type in the words "sliding fifth wheel hitch," you'll get a lot of answers. From what I've heard from one person, they said that the Pull-rite hitch did as it was advertised, but they really didn't like the way the hitches worked. That "automatic" action on short turns always kind of "got to him."
