Due to some new FHA regulation that is impacting our buyer our closing date just got moved out 2 weeks, closing was supposed to be tomorrow. OK, so yes, we can use an extra day or two to finish cleaning out the garage, but we were so ready to get on the road and certainly don't want to spend another 14 days camped in our driveway. I am looking forward to getting some sleep tonight and not having to relocate the rig on a rainy day is a good thing. So now we wait again.

I feel for you.
Some of the most frustrating times we have had were during the sale/closing on our property in Illinois. It's no fun living in the driveway when you're ready to hit the road.

Same thing happened to my daughter who just bought a house. Since the owner "flipped" the house and was asking twice the amount of money he paid for it, the bank wanted the house accessed a second time.

I know everything will work out and we'll still be free of this house and yard soon. Lately we've been working into the evenings on the house, eating after dark which in June in the Seattle area, dark doesn't come along until after 9 PM so we've been dining European hours lately.
Once we knew for sure that we weren't leaving here for a couple more weeks I made an "executive decision", booked a dinner reservation at a restaurant we love and we took the night off. We enjoyed an "early dinner" at 6:30, saw a beautiful sunset at home, brushed Tazzy Kat for the first time in well over a week. So, we have an unhappy kitty cat, but 2 much more relaxed people sitting in the trailer on our driveway tonight.
Tomorrow we'll tackle the rest of the house, Saturday we have a sailing date with my Dad and his new boat and sometime this weekend we're shopping for new bicycles to replace the tandem and the mountain bikes we sold.
Life might have it's unexpected twists and turns, but tonight we're looking forward to sleep before midnight.

When we sold our place the buyer actually changed lenders mid stream. We camped in our driveway some place around 30 days or a little more. So we feel your pain. I even hate thinking back about it!! But we have been on the road long enough now and have created so many better memories that I had almost forgotten about it as you will in time. It's all part of the character building process.

We don't have a glitch, they set the closing date for us to Aug 1. Reason was the buyer is getting an FHA loan as well and it takes longer to process. We just made our last payment though feels good knowing that check won't get written again! (actually automatic drafted)..

I admire the way you handle your frustrations. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone in life constantly throwing obstacles in the way of The Dream, and it's inspiring to see how strong others can be in handling it. Gives me hope that I, too, shall overcome some day!

It's been another wonderful weekend camped on our driveway, we were the envy of the neighborhood with dual AC units as the temps approached 90 in the Seattle area, understand, very few houses in this region have central air. I think a few more neighbors will be camping on their driveways tonight in their weekend units. One couple stopped by to say they had thought about that before, but seeing us actually living in our driveway and not sweating like everyone else was enough to convince him to go home, plug in the RV and fire up the AC!!

We were some of those Seattle area people with no air conditioning in the house. When we got the RV it was nice to retreat to it for air conditioning and we were glad we made sure to have the electric power to run two air conditioners.
Our technique today is preferred, we are camped on the Washington Coast in Ilwaco, where it got to 72 today. It was sunny, with blue skies, so it was really nice on the beach.

Bill - I would have loved to have been on the Coast, however, the past 5 days we had a multiple friends / family events planned as we get ready to depart and everyone seems to want to say goodbye as they realize they won't see us until next summer when we return. We are headed to Whidbey Island on the 4th for a few days. Looking forward to some cooler temps and getting off this driveway for the last time.

That's a pretty expensive way to get air conditioning. Plus, Dale went through a lot to get it delivered. Glad things are beginning to work out for you, and who knows, the glitches could be blessings in disguise.

Darn glitches! Regarding your AC, we were back in AZ for Dad's memorial and temps in our town said 115! Since our house there wasn't closing until 7/15 we borrowed an air matress and futon from a neighbor with sheets, towels, soap and TP and camped out in our house with great AC! Funny how we RV'ers camp out.
Got back from Guaranty RV Eugene to pick up replacement freezer door and of course it was the wrong door when Jesse went to install it today! Glitch!!
Ruth, hope all those family and friends feed you for going away parties. I didn't cook the last two weeks we were in our house. It was so generous and so welcome by these two tired packers.

Our friends and family have been wonderful! So hard to say goodbye for now, knowing we'll see many of them next summer.
The house is almost empty, Dale is sorting through tools. LOL, we cannot accomodate all the tools and he's trying to decide which ones he'll really need vs. want.

Dale we can tell you no matter what tools you'll take there will be some you wished you had taken and some you'll probably never use. Hope some guys jump in here and give you a good list (besides your ones needed for your art of course).

I keep a set of mechanics tools for tune ups & most repairs
House box with screw drivers, pliers, hammer and lots of duct tape
rear sidebox has slide miter saw...routers, scroll saw,table topsanders,Compu-CNC router. drills, grinders, vise tables....Never know when you might need this stuff
also carry Gas and refrigeration equipment....
I'm probably a good example of what you should not carry.......but Im the go to guy if you need a tool to get it done!!!!.......LOL

I read your responses to my hubby, Dale just reminded me of our sailing expedition with my Dad this past Saturday, no amount of tools could make the engine of his 30 ft Catalina start at the very end of our sailing expedition on Puget Sound, so Dad developed a plan and we sailed it into guest moorage. Dale's point? Sometimes we just have to improvise and follow a plan of something we've never done before.
Something tells me life on the road will be following the plan we thought we had and then constantly improvising when plans don't quite go the way we envisioned. My friends are all laughing when they ask me (the person who has previously planned life 9-12 months in advance) where we'll be in 2 months and I can't give them a definitive plan, they think it's so unlike me, they can't quite believe I don't have reservations and each day planned.
Yep, I think I'm going to be able to adapt to a little more spur of the moment "glitches", changes, or whatever you want to call them. It's taken me a while to get there, but at least now, I can laugh about the unexpected instead of fretting.
