This is my first time signing on to any forum so if I do/say anything wrong I get to say "I'm the new guy", sorry in advance. I love the sight. I've been researching buying an RV to go full-time. Until a couple of weeks ago I didn't even know there was a term for it. There are lots of new terms and much to learn and you folks already know so much, any help is very much appreciated. I'm looking at a 42' Tiffin pusher. Not sure what model.....bath and 1/2...??? choosing a floor plan seems overwhelming! One guy commented that the dinette on the "curb side" lets you see out where the "view" is best, not your back yard or your neighbor's "front yard". Great comment! I would have never thought about it. Anyway thanks for any feedback.

Welcome Airplane Guy,
The rig you're looking at is a beautiful MH! We're 5th wheel people but friends of ours have the Phaeton and its absolutely gorgeous.
Agree about the dining area on the curb side. A half bath sounds great if you're not giving up space needed for storage or something else. Most MH's I've seen have couches on one or both sides with driver and passenger seats being the easy chairs. Does that work for you? Just spend a lot of time in any unit you think you like and politely tell the salesman to go away and really think thru how you'd live, cook, and go thru daily activities to decide what floor plan works for you. Enough room in the bath and shower? Enough pantry space? Comfortable seating? If you're married, your wife will probably pick out the floor plan anyway! 😛
Enjoy, it's so exciting to begin this process.

Bob,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will find this a source of good information because the folks here are willing to help and be friendly as well. Plus as a "Miller" myself, I guess I need to add a special welcome, especially since my first name is also "Robert." (That's something that even the long-time members here didn't know.)
As for the Tiffin Phaeton, when we were doing our research, we also considered motorhomes. The Phaetons were also choice for us, had we gone with a motorhome. We got to test drive both a 40' unit and a 42'. With the 42' that we drove, it had the extra rear axle, known as a "tag axle." Both the wife and I felt that the tag axle did a lot with making the unit more stable to drive than the 40-footer.
Good luck with your research and planning.

Hey guys,
Us Millers got to stick together! Thanks for the welcome. I have never spent so much time researching something that wasn't for work before. There are so many options.......I'm in Brazil this week so I do have some time but the Internet is slow. What did you end up with?

Sherry,
You cracked me up when you said, tell the salesman to just go away for a while! Nice......you are all too correct when you say she will pick the floor plan anyway. Thanks!

Airplane Guy,
In your first comment you said you hope you didn't do or say anything wrong and I meant to comment that on THIS forum there are no wrongs. You'll find the participants really gentle with us all and very helpful.
Thanks also for getting my sense of humor!
Enjoy the process (and Brazil)!

Gene,
Your rig is very interesting. Would it be suitable for full-time? (Two people)
