We bought our 09 Montana 3665re back in March from a local dealer that has been around for years (Don't get us wrong we LOVE it!!!!!!!) Our sales lady was very nice in taking the time to show us everything we were interested in and when we walked into the Montana I said to myself "this is sold." After getting it home and set up in the yard and proudly showing friends and neighbors, 1 set of friends went to same dealer and mentioned our names to the sales rep they had (they did not remember our sales lady name) They not only ended up buying a 5th but also through talking they were able to trade in a vehicle and buy a truck as well (they got a great deal as did we)
Ok here is where we get irked...
Directly after buying it they stopped over to share their good news and to tell us we needed to call dealer the next day as to them using our name as a referral and we were entitled to a $50.00 gift card. So I called and asked for our sales lady and told her about friends and she was not aware of anything and told me she would look into it and get back to me.... waited a couple of days and when she called we were told that "seeing how they (our friends) didn't ask for her by name we were NOT entitled to gift card"
Between the 2 purchases we spent in the neighborhood of $60k (our purchase being the larger portion)
Roughly 2wks ago now Cheri received a email from our sales lady reminding us about service and keeping warranty up to date, Cheri politely wrote back that we were not happy in regards to the gift card issue and we would NOT be referring any more people to them, let alone bring our 5th to them for service.... NO reply as of this posting from sales lady.
My question to you is..... Would you be posting a review about this dealer in every area to could find to post one??? or just let it go.

I can understand why you are feeling hurt and I don't think your sales person handled it very well. Personally I would've come up with the gift card in the interest of customer good will -- $50 is cheap advertising.
However, I also don't see a reason for posting bad reviews about the dealer. It doesn't sound you are unhappy with the way you were treated through the sale and you don't have any experience with their service dept since you've chosen to forego that with them. It sounds like they were doing the right thing in terms of aftersale service.
It sounds like you are upset about not getting a $50 referral gift card that you weren't aware of in the first place. Personally, I would let it go and see how they do on the service. They might even do better since they know you aren't particularly happy at the moment.

or you might want to ask your friend who the salesman was and go there........

I think that it was bad customer service not to honor the gift card. After all, with the money that was spent that was a small price for them to pay. With that being said I agree with the other two responses.

I agree... you didn't tell your friends about the dealership with any expectation of getting a gift card. Yes, it is kinda poor customer service for them to tell your friends to have you call to get your referral bonus, and then be told you're not entitled to it. If I were the manager at the company, that's not how I'd handle the situation. But that was all extra above and beyond anything you expected anyway.
Sounds like you were already thrilled with the dealership, the RV and the service - the important things.
Going around leaving bad reviews for a small bonus you didn't know about in the first place just seems ... well, I'd just let it go.

Agree with everyone but if you really are bent on the $50 card call the dealership and ask to speak with the company or sales manager and explain the issue. Worst case see if they would apply it to your first service work , etc.
Good Luck and hope you enjoy your "Montana"!

Thanks all for your replies and like I said we love the Montana and the deal we got on it... I'm not "bent" on the gift card it is more about "customer service" I am sure you have seen it almost disappear from business today... All they care about is the almighty $$$ Gene, you are %100 right life is way to short.

My 1 cent feedback is;
1. I agree w Gene.
2. I also completely agree w Les & Sue in that if you personally went to the dealership and asked to speak
with either the sales manager or the general manager and explained the situation they would value your referrals
and their reputation much more than the $50 and offer you at least that. As for the sales lady, sounds like she needs
a lesson in customer service.. I've know people who sell vacuum cleaners door to door that would give you $50
out of their pocket for a referral that led to another unit sale.
Good luck w your new rig, wish you many safe miles ahead.

I'm sure that you feel it's more of a principle thing as I would but consider it a lessen now and just move on. Of course that's coming from a person that was pissed at Wendy's about 30 years ago and has not stepped foot in one since LOL!!

I would tend to agree that not asking for the sales lady probably was an issue in not giving out the $50.00 gift card. When we bought our last car, the salesman gave us his card and told us we would $50.00 for each referral we made to him, specifically, that purchased a car from him. If the sales lady would have presented a card and explained the "entitlement", at that point I would have an issue. Nothing was promised in this case.

All good points taken... hdrider, I know what you mean.. I boycott a lot of places from gas stations (Mobil, makes $49 billion in profits and is the highest priced gas) to chain restaurants. Fast foods... never happens, go to a deli and get fresh
