What a great forum! My wife Carol, our lab Echo and me are wanting to explore/test the RV life with a 6 month workamping trip starting in the spring 2014. Your contributions here have been and will be extremely helpful.
My research has led me to shopping for a lightweight fifth wheel with a GVWR of approx. 8000 lbs. This will put me at 16-18% less than my tow weight after accounting for the loaded towing vehicle. Any suggestions for an easy internet search, i.e. a specific website or a specific manufacturer? I'd like to search by wt. but have not found this option.
Thank you.

Dan and Carol,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. If you've not been reading a lot of the forums yet, you will find this to be a good source of information. All you have to do is ask the questions.
While I don't know of any source of searching for RV's via the weights, you might start with searching via a browser using "ultralight rv" as a search term. In our past, we had a 26-foot fifth wheel made by Rockwood, which is a company owned by Forest River. Their Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite series is pretty close to your maximum weight that you are considering. Should your truck be too light for that size, you may have to look at shorter RV's. But, you might start at Rockwood's website for the ultralite fivers.
Thank you! Your search suggestion opened up and narrowed my views/choices. I have a 2002 Silverado 2500HD gas with 16000 GCWR- I am bewildered at my lack of choices after reducing the weight for the mountains. Well, I will stay safe by going small or upping my truck.
