The house is empty, the stuff in storage, the RV is packed and will be hooked up shortly...........we are leaving our zero turn (which is for sale) and one of our vehicles at the neighbors for now.
Today is the day we begin our full time adventure. Im nervous and excited all at once. We are going to have our hands full (and our vacuum cleaner bag) because in addition to the four dogs, we are bringing the cat with us. I refuse to put this cat on Craigslist and refuse to take him to a shelter. I wont do it. So we bought him a harness (don't tell him all they had was pink) and he is just going to have to be part of the zoo. We may take him to the office and let him be a Foundry Cat, which is ironic because that is where we found him.
We got super lucky, the KOA camp we are moving to was packed over Memorial Day weekend, but he had a cancellation and found us a full hookup spot through the holiday. Yay!
Of course its storming today, figures....oh well.
Wish us luck!!
Scrappy, Shane, Storm, Odin, Holler, Howdy, and Catanooga.

Funny how things work out. The two ladies that bought our washer and dryer yesterday came back for the cat. He now has a nice home on a big farm. He will love it. I feel HORRIBLE and cant stop whimpering.....but he will be much happier than in the RV.

Congratulations on starting your adventure! I'm sure it is hard to leave a family member behind, but he'll love chasing mice around!

Well said Pieere. Congratulations and safe travels. I remember our first mile, pulling out of our development. We had our 'house', our three cats, but most of all, we had each other. Now it is time to start writing new memories.
Happy Trails

Glad Catanooga found a good home. I know it's tough to leave family behind, but as you said, he'll be happier.
I do have some friends who RV with cats, but I think most of them started as kittens and it's all they know.
Congrats and happy trails. As Pierre said, just remember it's the journey. Take time to enjoy it and not rush!

We made it! We drove through TORRENTIAL rain, flooded roads, it was awful. We only had to stop once to fold in the haindrail.
We are in a pull thru site because it is raining so hard and will move to our permanent site tomorrow. Got all the kennels up, dogs in, recliners turned, ac on, and wifi. yay!

up at 4 am to walk four dogs before work. decided to bring the german shepherds with me, in the beetle. haha. the other two are there with AC and TV turned on. Guessing they arent real happy about now, but it will be an adjustment. They have bark collars on as not to bother the neighbors. Oh and Benedryl so they are probably asleep by now. Now to deal with the two big German Sheperds at work, some of the guys are a little uneasy about these two, although they are super friendly and socialized. Just dont suddenly reach towards either of us, that would be a bad idea.
I got lost coming to work, heck, Ive never driven here! Things started looking like I was headed south when I was supposed to be headed north, so I turned around, and it was SO foggy! Next thing I knew I was crossing Lookout Mountain. Not quite sure how I did that..........but there was NO traffic and I made it in 13 minutes! And it was scenic! haha.
Today we move to our permanent site so we have to put the slides back in, but once there I can finally organize all the things I put in laundry baskets and threw on the bed.
Our laundry basket is in the shower for lack of a better place.
The campground is SUPER nice, and tremendously clean, including the showers, bathrooms, laundry room. Pretty impressive.
Gotta find a Walmart.
Ok, full of coffee.....hope everyone has a great day!

Oh, how wonderful! Reading your thread got me totally psyched so today I'm box up more things for the Goodwill and do some more wall painting. Glad to see someone out there with larger dogs as we have two. Hope your cat likes the harness better than ours did years ago. I guess some cat breeds are better than others with a leash and travel. The cat we had always ran and got in his travel cage when the motor started on the vehicle and we were off. I just bought a citronella no-bark collar for Rinnie, a mixed breed that has an issue with barking when we leave but I have not tried it out yet. The other one just sleeps, well, tries to sleep. I am so happy for you and yours.

We found a good home for the cat about an hour before we left yesterday, so just the dogs.
Melatonin is a Godsend. Everybody gets one before bed in a piece of cheese and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ they are out for the night! yay!

We had traveled with a cat but it made him extremely stressed. Had him to 5 different vets. He started peeing all over the place and nothing we did changed that habit. We tried. All kinds of meds, etc. Could find no one to take him in our travels. Had to take him to a shelter. A sad decision but we were out of options. Glad you found a good home for your guy. Would not have wished anyone to go through decision we had to make.
How great that you are living the life!

I just got an update from the gal that took him to be a barn cat. He is laying on her couch all sprawled out and sleeping, and to quote: "he is great, and my mom is in love with him!"
So, I am so happy.
Phyllen, sorry to hear of that terribly hard decision, but your kitty is much happier now. Its all good. We got lucky, one hour before moving we found a good home.
Living right is all I can say.

We had 5 cats before we were ready to leave. We had a stray have her kittens in our closet on Halloween. We found a home for one at only a few months old. We were getting all set to leave and we knew that we would have a problem with the mom, since she was an outside cat, and on the last day a friend came through. One of their friends had a barn cat that had passed away and they said they would take her. She now has the run of the house and the yard, and they love her and send pictures all the time. Our other three, that we travel with will be three in October and they have adjusted. We have only been on the road for 8 months. I use the plug in "Comfort Zone " with Feliway, and it works great when they get a little rambunctious, I usually plug it in at night. They also have "Comfort Zone" with Dap for dogs. I get mine through Amazon.

Enjoy the journey, happy to hear you are safely on your way. We will be taking our kitty with us, but she's already an experienced traveler with more than 4,000 miles over the past 3 years as we've taken her with us on all our art show travels. She spent her first night in the new RV with us Saturday night on our driveway and we had some great laughs as she was discovering how much bigger this rig is compared to our old one. She's already left her little white furballs all over one of the recliners. Something tells me she's claimed that chair as her spot!!

we are in our spot where we will remain for 18 days and hopefull don't have to move again soon.
Had to laugh at our neighbors last night.
She timed how long it took us to get leveled, unhooked, slides out, awnings out. unhooked from truck, and living in our RV.
Twenty minutes in the POURING RAIN. She says it takes her husband TWO HOURS. lol. We are an efficient team.
However, I drew first blood on the RV.
I was putting the dining room slide out and heard a big crunch. *gasp*
Turns out I didn't get the recliner up against the back far enough and the trim around the slide now has a custom fit around the recliner arm that you use to recline. OOPS.
All he said to my confession was "glad you did it, not me!"
It's official!
