we're going to start looking for our rv in earnest soon and are mapping out the rv dealerships to hit for best selection and best reputation.
of course who to avoid would be even more helpful too!
we'd like to see a lot of pre owned as well as new units and the budget is 50 k.

you Might want to check with Rt.111 RV & Marine in Rochester NH....
Campers Inn.........Rt.125 Kingston N.H
Evergreen RV.........Rt. 125 Gonic N.H
And most of all Craigslist........there are some really good deals in the northeast right now. away from the major cities!!
And Before you buy....compare pricing with units available in florida....its 169.00 one way amtrak to Orlando to pick it up!!

thanks mike--that helps a ton! we can drive the truck to pick it up, as we're looking for a fifth wheel at this time. we have a good one ton dually crew--she's an 01 with under 50k original miles, the 7.3 diesel, so we can get into a good size full timiing rig with it. i'm also looking for a diesel performance shop to add modifications to the truck if you care to recommend any. i'm having no luck in vermont so guess i'll have to look elsewhere in new england.
and you're right--i'm making quite a list of craigslist ads, from long island north along the hudson river there are a zillion for sure. i'm a little less sure about buying without the protection of a warranty, but maybe there are ways to make that problem easier to deal with.
