So, we have basically been living in the RV in the driveway of the rental house while we are moving and selling and all that noise.
I finally have a complaint besides banging my head getting in bed every night.
The sink was NOT made for a tall person. Not. I am 6'1 and have to bend in half to wash the dishes! I think I'm going to move a bar stool over to the sink and sit down and wash dishes!!
I guess the good news is I am tall enough to reach even the backs of the cabinets.

Boy can I relate to the head banging......after years of hitting our heads every night while getting in and out of bed, last weekend I broke out the tool box, and began the process of taking out the overhead cabinets in our bedroom. Those cabinets should have been called "In Head" instead of "Overhead" . Of coarse the underside of the cabinets had a Remote Generator Switch, Two Highhats, and one Outlet, so all the wiring needs to be rerouted....I will post some photos of the before and after....I can feel my headache getting better already....

Not only is our kitchen sink low but it is set back from the edge of the counter 9 inches. We both use a bar stool. It makes dish washing much easier on the back.
At 6ft 3In. I used to hit my head going out the door, it took a few times before I learned to duck. Every once in a while I forget to duck when entering the slideout area, luckily the wood trim around the slideout is softer than the metal door jam.

well, I havent hit my head on the door yet. Yet. I have crashed into the awning arms a few times. And the stove is in a slide so I bang my noggin on that occasionally. Im gonna try washing dishes sitting and see how that works out!
It kills my back. RV's should come in tall sizes. Tall counters, longer beds, higher shower heads!

Tried the gouging of the head on the door and didnt like it!!!.......been lucky I guess with cabinets in the bedroom no hits and the new coach has the electric ceiling magic bed so Im safe there........but the Doctor Requested I put pool noodles on the awning bars or remove the awning!!!!!
but I will join all of you on trying to figure out the dishes thing!!!.......must have been a short engineer with long arms that designed the sink area!!!!!

When i look at coaches I always make sure no overhead cabinets over the bed as how can you sit up and read in bed? We don't have those in ours but we've done much head banging on hitch, awning arms, and slide outs. In fact we forgot to take noodle corners off the bdrm slide before we put it in this am! Open, remove! Another lesson.

Hmm, I guess I have the opposite problem. I'm using a step stool to get to most of the cabinets, at 5'1" (ok, so that's a little bit of a stretch) I can't reach anything in the overhead cabinets. In fact, I can't even reach things in the back of one of our deep kitchen cabinets because of the counter. Dale laughs when I can't find something because I forget to look up, I seem to not see things above my line of site. However he's not exactly tall either so yes, we have a 3 step stool that is going with us for all those cabinets where things will be stored out of reach. So obviously RV manufacturers don't make things easy for folks above or below "average".

LOL Terry, so, I've met you in person and don't see you as short. However, I think your beloved Jo and I might share a few of the "short" challenges!!

To wash dishes I use dish pans setting on a large cutting board I set over the sinks. The sinks are just to low for me. I put the used rinse water in a gallon jug and flush the toilet with it if we are boondocking. Having the water in a dish pan also makes it easy to pour in a large funnel set in the gallon jug.

I tried out the ceiling fan for size before we bought. That was crucial! We looked at one TT that I had to stand with my head ****ed in order to even enter the bedroom. That was a definite no.
Crashing into the awning arms mostly caused by not wearing my glasses or maybe a ****tail too many. Or both.
Im not too proud to wash dishes sitting down. Too bad I cant drag a recliner over there.
For you shorties, Im the helpful tall one in the grocery store that sees you eyeballing something on a top shelf..........and before you start to climb, I will ask you if you want me to reach it for you.

Evidently, there has never been a way to "fuse" the "profanity filter" with a spell checker.
However, with my luck if any fusing did happen, it would probably be words that were fused to an auto-correct program. I've seen some forum posts on a shooter's forum where the outcome of auto-correcting led to some hilarious, and somewhat profane, comments.
For the benefit of others, I'm only 5'8" tall, where some of the first posters were all over 6'.

I just went out and measured. The countertop in the Foretravel is 34" from the floor. The countertop here at home is 36" from the floor. Since I'm the shorter one, and I usually do the dishes, this isn't an issue for me. The burners on the stove are also somewhat lower than at home, but not by that much, so Jo Ann should be fine there.

Ill have to measure my countertops. I have a 38" inseam, so maybe that will put into perspective my dishwashing gripe!

We do not yet own our RV but have been looking. I am 6'1 and my wife is 4'11 so you can imagine how we literally look at things differently in an RV. Of course after 43 years of marriage we have made our compromises (I bend down to get the dishes out of lower cabinets and I reach up to get the things she cannot reach, LOL). Seeing the location of most microwaves in RVs it looks like I will be in charge of that appliance. Wife will love the lower countertops! But we will be together and seeing the country so I know it will work out.

Started packing our 5th wheel today and realized that to reach the biggest of our kitchen cabinets and to get anything out of the back of the cabinet, I'm going to need a step stool. And oh yeah, to store anything over the couch requires me standing on the couch because even with a step stool, my arms are just too darn short to put things into or take things out of those cabinets. Found myself using 2 different steps stools, one is a 1 step, the other is a 2 step. We have a 3 step that I thought we'd be leaving behind but I'm begining to think I might need it!

I was 5'8" and now 5' 6" but we've taken a three step stool for inside (in addition to the one that rides in truck bed for hook ups- you do have one of those don't you?) and store it in the closet when not using. I have long arms but couldn't reach the stuff over the sofa or in taller cabinets without it!

In our Cedar Creek fiver the sink was under a kitchen cabinet. Always hitting our heads. Now in the Montana the sink is in an island - no cabinets overhead. One of the reasons we selected this model.
Our biggest head banger was the bedroom slide. When outside can't say how many times heads were banged. Now, like a lot of people, the corners are cushioned with those styrofoam "noodles" used in swimming pools. However, last week I was not paying attention, looking down, and walked into the kingpin. Almost knocked me silly.

Fun looking at this; I'm a 5'10" woman, so I am average height for a man, and 5" taller than average for a woman. Things in the RV are fine for me, but I wonder about how my 6'4" brother would cope. Short gals always tell me they wish they were tall, I say, pants. Size 11 shoes.
