Hi everyone, Mike and Dawn here. We just bought our 2012 Heartland Big Horn and we are taking it on our first trip this summer. We are both active duty military. We will be reporting in to Ft Polk, LA this summer from Ft Bliss, TX and Schofield Barracks, HI, respectively. Looking forward to finally living together after three years of marriage and three years apart. And definitely forward to our first trip in the RV. The plan is to go semi-full-time once we retire (about 4-5 years from now). Our trip will take us from TX to LA to FL to GA to NC to VA to NC to LA in about a 3 week time period. We have joined Passport America, we have the military camp ground app on the phone, and we have our extended warranties on both the truck and the rig. Now we are just crossing our fingers that whatever goes wrong is minor...
Love this site and all the great info available here. Hope to run in to a few of you while we travel. Any and all advice is carefully considered and greatly appreciated.

Mike and Dawn,
I'll chime in like Lucky Mike did and offer my thanks for the service that both of you have given to our country, and thus to us.
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. If you do happen to have issues during your initial trial run, and if time allows, check back here to see if anyone has an answer to your problems with either the RV or your truck. The folks here have a lot of information to share, plus they are willing to share it.
Good luck on your latest excursion.

Oh man, Red, all I can think of is a marriage where the two spent most of the time apart SOON going to live together in a very small space, this is going to get really interesting!!! 😃 You'll love the Big Horn, a very comfortable and well built 5er. Be sure to read the thread of Newbie Mistakes, it might save your life (or marriage) at some point.
We're joining the others to thank you both for your service. We are currently staying at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach, CA. Wonderful campground. DH was stationed at Ford Island.
Wishing you all the best!

Aw, thank you all for the warm welcome and the kind words. I will admit, I have been lurking for several months, reading all I could and picking all of your brains before I chimed in. But I figured now that we have the truck and rig, might as well put ourselves out there and say hi.
OMG Sherry, I know!!!! I have thought of nothing but what it is going to be like to start out our living together in such a confined space. However, I take comfort in the fact that we have both had to live in small, cramped spaces with someone we didn't choose to be with over the years. You learn to adapt. If we can do it for Uncle Sam, we can darn sure do it for each other! At least that is what I tell my self, hehehe. It should be interesting. This summers trip will also include his 14 y.o. son, my 4 y.o. dog, and two sugar gliders..... Let the good times roll! Will keep you posted on the hilarity as it ensues.
