Hi Jeanne!!!!!
Its all doable.....I just went thru some of the most life altering medical nitemares anyone should only have to watch!!!!
All my Specialists are in the New England area. Because of there affiliation to Several Major medical centers on the east coast my ability to travel is limited to emergency Flite distance within these hospitals to survive a catastrophic event again.
I carry a USB Medic alert tag with all contact for doctors and info needed.......I have a portable Harddrive with all my current medical records Stored and copies of MRI'S and X-Rays....and all contact numbers for medical staffing and Doctors Affiliated with my case
I sat down with my doctors and talked about my plans , I allowed them to refer me to the Medical facilities , doctors that are best suited for my needs in an emergency and during routine visits
I obtain all my meds thru Walgreens without problems and try to keep all my scripts in 90 day refills Some use mail order scripts.with good luck Others use Walmart...with good results
My Traveling is a worse case scenario......a little planning before you start will go a long way, talk with your doctors....your insurance carriers and Pharmacist.
Do your home work and find the Best facilities in your destination areas before you go ....have your doctors set up these referrals
Traveling is the best therapy for anyone....lots of fresh air....meeting new and wonderful people ...seeing events and the places of your dreams....and most of all the memories and happiness that will always be held close to heart!!!!!
I'm glad I made the choice to come out here , I'm not dreaming in my recliner or sitting in the hospital anymore......life has no guarantees on when you enter it or when it comes to its gracious end.......give me a sunrise in nature to start my day....good freinds....and a beautiful sunset to finish it and its all I need !!!!!!
Life is good!!!!

My husband and I have been planning to go FT RV Living for about 3 years now and we are finally getting within 9 months to a year away of being able to make it happen. Well you know life - just when you think you are doing ok !! About 6 months ago I (Jeanne) found out the issues I have had with GERD and esophagus are Sarcoidosis. So few people know what that is. I sure didn't. On top of that it has been found in my eyes, bones, and probably numerous other parts of the body. It is not a common illness and not often fatal but it can be chronic. And it is becoming more clear that it is chronic for me and systemic. I have a PCP, a rheumatologist, a gastrologist, a pulmonologist and a dermatologist. I take meds that impair my immune system to keep the granulomas in control and I have to have IV infusions every 6- 8 weeks.
So we are thinking we still want to do this lifestyle may not be able to travel as much or as far but are hoping I can find doctors in a location that would be our winter "center" (like Texas for example) and keep my docs up here in Wisconsin for the summer and Dec holiday weeks when we plan to be in WI by our son and family. I sure can't see a different doctor in a new state whenever I have a flare-up of inflammation.
My question is -- do others manage chronic conditions with two sets of MD specialists and travel some distance from those doc's? How far away from one's docs do people travel and feel safe to get back to one's own doctors and hospital if necessary? Do people make plans for IV care in two different states? I will be on Medicare and Supplement insurance before we start this FTing - if we can go ahead. I came down with two areas of strep infection in early April probably due to air travel. That meant I had to go off the meds that keep my inflammation in control for 21 days and have been on oral antibiotics.
We of course will make the decision ourselves but just want to know of anybody else's experience with health issues and med needs. Thanks much Jeanne
