In a nutshell here is my story. My husband and I are in our late 40's. Our children are grown and living on their own. My husband is on disablity. I have been working as a Master Gardener for the city parks where we live (this a seasonal job in the summer) In the winter I work as a Med Aid in an Alzheimer's Unit in a Long Term Care Facility. While I LOVE my summer job, my winter job is taking a toll on me and has become so stressful I no longer enjoy it. When a position opened up in the Parks Dept for year round work I applied and was denied the position. I spent 3 days mopping about it and came up with "Plan B" Our house will be paid off in 4 years. We are going to sell it, buy a fifth wheel and truck and head out on the open road. Our plan is to come back to South Dakota, where we now reside, in the summers where I can continue to work for the parks and spend the summers with our children and grandchildren. We are so green to all this but are very excited and scared at the same time. My father, who suddenly and unexpectedly, passed away in December and this was what he did. Work his lawn business in the summer and head down to Texas in the winter. So I somehow feel he has a hand in this decision we are making. We are very excited and have combed through every RV brochere we could find, searched every web site on the net and read every blog and forum on this site. While we are excited we are also terrified but you know what, Don't care. Gonna do it anyway! 4 more years and FREEDOM! I cannot wait!

Welcome to the forum.
I think most of us who have full-timed have been "scared to death" at one time or another. It's a big step and one that should not be taken lightly.
It's a great life if it's right for you, however it's not right for everyone. You've got 4 years to do your research to be sure that this is what you really want to do. Be sure to ask lots of questions, there's a great bunch of folks here that are more than willing to help in any way they can.
Good luck with your plans.
Jim

Welcome to the forum. We have been full timing for about 8 months now. We both wonder why it took us so long to start this journey. We planned for 3 years, or should I say Dreamed. We had days where we seconded guessed our dream, but in the long run we are elated with our decision. We joined this forum and lurked about reading, then started to ask questions. Just remember that the only dumb question is the one that is not asked. So ask away.

Vanessa; Time to rock and roll! I am now and was single when I started RVing back in 1999. Yes it can be a bit scary (in a fun way). Every plan you make may not go exactly as planned; but the end result usually is great. The trouble with time is once it has passed there is no way to bring it back. Dream; Plan; take action; then just do it!!!
