So I'm new to this forum, and I've viewed all of the comments re: washer & dryer. Not very recent comments. We just bought a preowned 38ft Cardinal. It has a closet in the bathroom for a stackable. I've researched & researched. came across reviews of a whirlpool, that several said they used in their RVs, but the model was a 220. Is this possible? I didn't think even a 50 amp could hold a 220. I know that our other RV has a w/d and both are 110s( they both have good capacity) I don't want Splende, have not found good reviews. Can someone give me model numbers of whirlpool or other reputable brands that will fit 25 deep and 25 wide (the hoses in the back take up the other 2 inches and 1 in on each side to allow for handling) Sears say they don't have 110s. My other RV has spoiled me with the convenience, if I can't find a set, I may take the set out of RV at home and put them in my newer RV.

Splendide makes three kinds of washer/dryers, vented combo, unvented combo and stackables, which all run on 110/120. Are you making sure the reviews are of the stackables since many don't like the combo units? The reviews on the stackables I have seen are mostly happy, as long as they realize 110 drying will take longer than 220. Many reviews of the combo units have nothing to do with quality or working as advertised, they are just not what the reviewer wants. We have a vented combo, which works for us, but many seem to hate it because it takes over 3 hours per load, the loads are half-size, so you have to do laundry over the week instead of having a laundry day.

On breakers in RVs: Many 50AMP RVs with a big inverter/chargers have about all the inside plugs going through the inverter/charger subpanel with 15AMP/20AMP breakers and a 30AMP breaker in the main circuit panel box that goes to the subpanel. It is really easy to overload the breakers in the subpanel or the 30AMP breaker that feeds the subpanel. A friend added plugs off the air conditioner circuits to use with space heaters, otherwise he had to shut off a space heater to make coffee or run the microwave in cold weather.

We have had two Splendide separates (stackable) and have been VERY happy with them. That is what New Horizons puts in unless you ask for something else. They have had very good luck with them. I see nothing at all wrong with the separates - they are made by Bosch, and seem to be as well made as any others.
You can put in a 240 volt dryer if you have a 50 amp RV. However you will only be able to use it on 50 amp park service. I DO NOT recommend doing that. I would put a propane dryer in long before a 240 electric.

Thank you for such a quick reply. Yes, I have reviewed for the stackables. I have seen them in use and yes they do take forever to dry. Again, I'm spoiled to my Whirlpools in our other RV; they take about an hr to dry and a normal 30 minutes to wash a full load (probably about 3/4 of what a full-size house w/d would be). They don't make that model anymore. The reason I'm having such trouble, is, because of the dimensions of the laundry closet. When the pipes were put in, they were placed about 1 1/2 in further which took up usable space. The largest I can place because of the pipes, is 25 X25 (maybe plus a 1/4). And actually Splende stackable was in the RV when we bought it, we brought clothes to measure, no go. We had the RV center take them out.
I have found a GE dryer online, that I'm researching. Still researching for a front-loading washer. I understand they spin out better.
Thank you again for all of your info.

To Jack Mayer, that's what had me confused. I just kept wondering how those that replyed to the reviews could actually use a 220, but there were several who stated they had that particular model of Whirlpool in their RV and it worked well. I know if you run room heaters and a coffee pot, that'll throw the breaker, so I just don't see how a 220 works. Thanks for your input though.

Ginger,
I think it should take a lot more than a heater or two and a coffee maker to trip the breakers. We live in our RV full-time and use our electric heaters and electric fireplace a lot for heating in the winter. While they are running, and with so many other things running, we've never tripped those breakers. The only breakers we have tripped were the ones for the air conditioners in the middle of a record hot summer in Oklahoma.
If you are having breakers tripping, be sure and keep an eye on those appliances. In our Mobile Suites, we have no other fuse or breaker issues other than the a/c ones.

Some people here have good luck with Splendide washer/dryers. Unfortunately we have not. We have had 2 of them in our home and not in the RV. So the RV didn't shake them to death. They shook themselves to death. Both of them.
Our problem wasn't with the lengthy wash/dry time (yes, it can be up to 3 hrs). Our problem was that they spin so violently to extract all possible moisture that they shook themselves to death ! It's like a jet plane taking off.
Purchased both of them at Camping World as I have a small laundry area at home. Both dead as a doornail after about 2 years use each. Did not like Splendide at all.
i have a much more reliable system for the RV. 2 watertight 5 gallon tubs , one black for dirty stuff, the other white.
I put a "load " in the black bucket, detergent, screw on the lid and take off. The clothes agitate themselves clean. I can have another load "rinsing" in the white bucket as we zoom (or putter) along.
For the really big bulky stuff, wear it till it 's stinky and then make a laundry run.

As an alternative, I have a Maytag front load washer Model #MAH2400AWW, Dryer is MDE2400AYW front loader.
They do a great job but of course require a lot of juice and a lot of water.

something to keep in mind....Maytag,Whirlpool and most Kenmores are all the same machines with a bells and whistle facelift. They are all made by Whirlpool. so do a little price/warranty comparison before buying

We have a Maytag front load with a Sears 120 Volt Dryer stacked on top.
Yep we got the Whirlpool Stack kit to mount the dryer, since Maytag, Sears and Whirlpool are all made by Whirlpool, everything fit and worked fine.
Bought both of them at a Sears Store in Tampa, they had the 120 Volt Sears Dryer in stock.
