I was given this forum information from a helpful full-timer in another forum. I enjoyed reading almost all the articles on the site and thought I would come over here and introduce myself. I have been dreaming of full-time RV-ing with my family for awhile now. Several people that I have mentioned my dream to don't understand why I would want to. My DH is open to thinking about it but hasn't caught the dream at this point. I hope to get a lot of good information, advice and tips here. I have actually never been RV-ing but have traveled half way across the country in several directions by car, bus and train and have really enjoyed it. Both DH and decided several years ago that we didn't want to buy another house so we've rented for quite a few years and lived in small apartments. They haven't been as small as a class A motorhome, the type I *think* I may want, but they have been small so we are pretty sure we can live comfortably together in tight quarters along with our two small children.
RV living would be a dream come true and I am glad to make the aquaintance of all of you and look forward to getting insight into this dream.

Welcome to this forum. Warning it's dangerous! You're very likely to be pulled in and on the road sooner than you think.
This is a great place to do your research. You may find you'll go back & read Howard & Linda's journal from the beginning, then doing a budget, then deciding on one type of RV, then finding you like another better. Leave your credit cards and checkbook at home but go to as many RV shows as you can. Look at everything, you'll eventually settle on the type. You may change your mind several times. When you can go to local campgrounds and talk to the owners of different types of RV.
Use the search button in the blue bar on top of the forum to look up different subjects that you wonder about, ask questions.
Both adults should be enthusiastic about this lifestyle, if one goes along to please the other it's not likely to last.
The dreaming and planning and making new friends on here is a big part of the fun.

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will find the folks here to be knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and encouraging. The RV lifestyle is not for everyone one, and as Westward Ho stated, everyone has to be on-board with the idea. So, in order to learn the things you will need to know to make decisions, do a lot of reading and asking of questions. There are no "dumb" questions other than the ones that aren't asked and decisions made without that knowledge, thus sometimes leading to expensive and embarrassing circumstances.
In addition to the forums, go to the website homepage and look under "Site Map" to find a listing of a lot of information that is valuable, especially to the RV'ing novice. Howard and Linda are not bashful about telling of their mistakes either, so everyone has the opportunity to learn from their mistakes as well as their research.
In addition to all of that, there are the occasional forum member websites and blogs that will also provide you with a lot of information. Watch for many of the participant's signature areas on the posts to find links to their blogs and other websites. Jack Mayer has a lot of information on his website as does Technomadia on theirs.
Good luck with the research and planning. Be sure and consider the very foundation of an RV, which are the frame, axles, suspension, tires and wheels. You never want to go cheap on those, so look and consider carefully

We were so glad to find this forum where the people are pleasant and very helpful unlike some of the other forums where it seems like everyone is an expert and don't dare disagree with them. Not like that here, where everyone has one goal in mind.....enjoy the FT lifestyle and help others do the same!
