I don't need a dryer for my head hairs--both of them--but I do need some hot air occassionally to do other stuff. The most common need is to melt ice and frozen pipes. If I have time, I just let them thaw; but sometimes that can't happen.
I found hot air guns with variable temp controls from 140 up to 1100.
My question is for you who've used these in RV'g or hair dryers, is 140 still too hot? Is there a hair dryer that has the reputation of being really good for thawing in the RV context?

I would suggest a Hair dryer rather than a hot air gun........if you are doing this in an rv the walls contain foam, it can melt or ignite under extreme heat..
a hot air gun at high heat can heat a copper pipe hot enough to apply soldier to give you an Idea of the damage it will do to plastic.

Get a hair dryer with multiple heat settings, which most of them have. My wife needed a new hair dryer a year ago and there were multiple choices under $20 at Wal-Mart. When at Wal-Mart look around the space heaters and see if they have an Lasko My Heat space heaters, these are $12 to $15 each and 200 watts so you can point it and walk away while it works.
