I am thinking of taking a trip to Yellowstone this May and will be traveling from Colorado and I would like to know the best route for an RV, Any suggestions?

Be sure to check to make sure the entrances are open when you will be arriving. We were there in late May last year and some of the entrances were closed on different days due to snow in the passes. During the week we were there there was at least one entrance closed each day. Just monitor it as you go. The west entrance is the least likely to be closed as it does not have the high passes. We loved being there with the snow, it presented an entirely different experience from previous visits. There is a forest service campground just outside of West Yellowstone that has electric hookups and it is only about three miles from the entrance. We stayed there for part of our visit, they have nice sites and we could use our electric heater, only one campground in the park has hookups. Enjoy your stay.

We have snow on the pass on the East side twice, in June, so as advised, check as you go. Planning never hurts, but the last time we were told all clear than when we got to the entrance they had just closed it due to a blizzard on the pass. We waited 4 hours and they finally opened it and we made it through. Basically it was the pass itself, going up wasn't too bad and once we got over the top and on the other side it was no problem. Again this was mid-June, we have seen snow on the pass from the NE pass in July. Coming from the west or the south is usually the best.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I used to work in Yellowstone but didn't drive their so I really can't recall which entrance was best although I believe the Northeast entrance was very mountainous.
