My name is Tracie and my husband Shad and I moved one step closer to the full time life yesterday and bought a bus conversion! We are super excited and hope to have our house sold and be on the road by the end of summer '13. We are in our early 40's and are currently living in Lubbock, TX. Shad is lucky enough to have a job that affords him the ability to work from anywhere and I will be leaving behind 23 years of working in clerical positions at a hospital. Hopefully I can find some temporary work on the road because I'm not sure if I will know how to be unemployed! We are total newbies at all of this and know we will have lots of learning to do, but that's one of the many things that makes this exciting for us! We will also have our pets tagging along.. we have 3 beagles and 3 cats. It will be crowded, but we think (hope) it's doable!
My husband is currently registering for the rally in Elephant Butte so I hope to meet some of you soon! Happy new year!

Tracie and Shad,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. While the process of going full-time in an RV can be exciting, it can also be frustrating and daunting at times. If the lifestyle if right for you, stay the course and learn to cope with the adversities that will come.
The rally would be a good way to not only meet some really great people, it will definitely be informative as well. Be sure and also check out Howard and Linda's "Site Map" area where you can find information in their financial postings that can give you a lot of information as to what the lifestyle can cost.
If I remember right, there may even be another RV Dreams forum member living in Lubbock. At least, I think they did at one time, but I wouldn't swear that they were still there. Maybe they will chime in. I'm somewhat familiar with Lubbock as many years ago I used to live up near Amarillo and while working for one trucking company, I even hauled cotton seed meal out of the Plains mill. (At least, I think it was called "Plains."
Good luck with your "transformation" of both your lives and to your RV.
Terry

Hi Tracy - Welcome! You must be excited and nervous all at once! Congrats on making this huge step toward full timing. You're going to have a full house with all the pets, but they are certainly going to make things even more enjoyable and memorable. As far as work, I know there is at least one website that posts jobs for full-timers, but the name of it eludes me.
Good luck with everything!
