We are coming in off the road and will settle in Punta gorda FL. In changing our address from NM to FL, I was shocked to find out that my AARP supplemental medical insurance will cost $77 MORE per month than it cost in NM. We are going to look at other plans - other than AARP who I think has really lost sight of their goals for the seniors.
When we moved from AZ to NM the AARP rate was higher in NM than in AZ. I called and inquired why and was told "because NM is a poor state!!!!!" I won't bother to inquire as to why FL is $77 per month higher than NM!!!
So I guess a word to the wise -

OHhhhhhh I'm sure of that Lucky Mike!!!!! I hope to find a cheaper provider of supplemental Ins. as Medicare is not going to be worth much when the thieves in Washington get done with their cuts. I some times think the best thing to do is just show up at a hospital with no insurance and see what they would do!!!!!

I exceeded 1 million last year.........while I was in ICU a payment was missed , I now have to purchase in a state run high risk pool and can no longer ever get any type of insurance including life.
Insurance is a racket in wich only they control.............Think they liked it when I dropped there stock from my portfolio!!!............they called 3 or 4 times trying to keep me on......LOL

I live in AZ, my brother in Oshkosh, WI was on the same supplement as I was for about the same $, however, my sister in FL had to pay much more for the same supplement. We guessed it was because there are so many retires in FL, but it was just a wild guess.

If you go to the medicare web site you can use their link to a site that will give you rate info on the plans available in any state.

Bet you cannot wait until 2014 when all those Affordable Care Act requirements kick in (or is that kick your teeth in?)
Good Luck,
