We will be in our new 5th wheel one month come Monday. Wanted to share a few things we have found.
I had too much food in the freezer for ice and trays, so we found a small portabel ice maker on amazon. It is awesome!! Will make up to 28 lbs in 24 hours. The one we got is by New Air, it's about the size of a bread maker and fits great in the basement.
The second thing. We used up all of our Verizon minutes on hold with Direct TV and switching over and closeing other accounts, so we went to the Verizon store to see if we could up our minutes without losing our unlimited data. The answer was no, but they now have a device called Home Phone Connect. It is a black box that acts as a cell phone. We got a regular desk phone from Office Depot, Verizon assigned a new cell phone number to our account for $20 a month and now we have a not so land land line. It has unlimited minutes, and has no effect on our regular cell phone minutes.
The last thing is original Palmolive dish soap. My sister uses it for cleaning everything. (my brother-in-law is sensitive to cleaners and odors) I cleaned the hard water spots off the shower doors yesterday and it is unreal. The glass looks new. I used straight soap on a blue scotch-brite scrubr sponge with a little water.

We have one of the Verizon Home Phone Connect systems as well. While it has worked very well for us since we got it, we aren't sure that we like paying the extra $20 per month for it, especially since our Verizon phones are pretty much unlimited. Then again, Jo has just changed us over to a new Verizon plan called Share Everything. That plan gives us up to 8 gig of data that covers our phones and our MiFi. The MiFi contract expires about April, and we are looking at changing that over to Millenicom at that time.
The nice thing with the Home Phone Connect is that it works off of the Verizon cell system and even if we were on the road, our "home phone" number will always remain the same.

Ann & Hank,
Thanks for the update! I forgot what you choose for your 5er? Terry, we just switched to that share everything but we only get 5 gigs of data. It included the MiFi but I find we burn thru that on the road. I'm guessing we get less data this way than I did separately on 2 iPhones & our iPad separately but weren't told about that. More checking to do that I should have done first! Ann, we keep a soft large microfiber cloth in our shower and swiftly wipe it down every use, it's simple & shower is always spotless. Wonder if Dawn works as well for other cleaning as Palmolive?
A friend has the Home phone connect and takes it with her when she travels to visit & stay with friends. Just plugs in at our house and her calls are right there!
Thanks all, Sherry

Mike,
Didn't know that about the fleas! Sprint not so good in our part of AZ where we're hanging out for now. But on the share everything plan, we got the MiFi included, and the wife on iPad included for just the former cost of our two iPhones so it was cost effective for us.
Thanks, Sherry

Hi Sherry, I have always used Dawn also, but my sister told me to use Palmolive, and I don't argue with my older sis (hehe). I like the idea of a microfiber cloth to wipe down. In the desert the mold is not a big problem like it is up here. Can't wait to get on the road and see the sun, I'm so sick of this mud. We're hoping to be on our way by Christmas, New Years at the latest. Hope to make it to the Boondocking Rally. We still haven't pulled the trailer yet. Guess we're going to have to pull ourselves up by our big girl & boy panites and dive in.
Mike I'll keep the flea treatment in mind. It's not to harsh on their skin?

Hello I am trying hard to find most effective cleaning chemical solution for home. I am not interested in using two many different cleaning materials. Need one or two which can serve most of the purpose.
Back in the "old days" I remember my Mom using a mixture of Vinegar and water to clean just about anything from hardwood floors to window glass. Also water with a little bleach added makes a nice dissinfectant/cleaner for table tops, counter tops and in the bathroom.
Cheap, easy and effective.

New here to the forum...(researching going full time RV) since I am a hairdresser I can work 9 months in FL and 3 months in the Smokey Mtns...OOPS off track!!! Sry!!
I have had full size siberians and now a sheetzu. White was hard to maintain on their coats... I found Dawn with Lemon will bring out the white also in their coats along with getting rid of fleas. At the last repeat add in the same amount of hair shampoo/Dawn/and conditioner. Very easy to brush them and their coats will be glowing and soft.

Regarding the ice maker. We have been using one for five years or so. Well actually the second one. The first one died in less than a year and the second after a little over a year. I used parts from the first one to repair the second one.
Early on they weren't very reliable but seem to be much better now. All brands appear to be made by the same Chinese company and differ in cosmetic appearance only.
Because of that I would shop by price if this one dies and I have to buy another one. We will definitely get another one if necessary.

we have the ice maker too and dh loves it. i dislike the fact that it can't keep the ice cold so bags of ice still take up room in the freezer. dh likes a lot of ice every day, so the icemaker itself also takes up precious counter space.
i'm considering figuring out a way to install it elsewhere in the rig.

Ice, its a wonderful thing ! The ice maker worked great in our old MH but that Norcold fridge that it was attached to gave me nothing but headaches, our new 5th wheel has a residential fridge that wins hands down always stays cold and pumps out ice very nicely.......we would never go back to those Nevercolds !
