Happy Thanksgiving all!!
Trying not to be too nostalgic as we plan to hit the road next year and realize this may be the last holiday season we spend with family and friends in this part of the country. We'll be back in the summers, but will miss the holidays with them.
Trying to look forward to the new adventures and new experiences but there are still those moments of sadness.

NWescapee: This will be the best Holiday Season that will last you a life-time. Never say Never; as I have learned through-out the years. The hardest part is pulling out and it truly gets easier as a few hours on the road pass. BTW there is nothing wrong with sadness and tears; it only means that you have Love and care for them! On this forum you will finally realize you have a "Traveling Family". The people here are here for you and have a listening ear and caring hearts.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to our "Traveling Families"!!!

My sentiments, exactly, NWescapee... and my husband and I don't even have a clue when we'll hit the road. As far as family and holidays... when our time does come to hit the road, I suppose we could always just fly home if we are too far away to drive. My family has always been close and all live in the same area. Imagine that! Anyway, it bothers me, too, being away from family on holidays and I think about it often (already), especially now that the holidays are here. I'm a planner and very detailed/organized individual, so I would venture to guess that being a full-timer does not necessarily have to mean being away from family if you just need them near.
As many of you know, we are caring for my DH's elderly aunt. We cannot go anywhere, well, for now, but I'm still dreaming of livin' the dream. Nevertheless, and even though life is really tough right now, we are so very, very blessed. So many of us on this board ARE!!! I want to say "THANK YOU" and a "VERY HAPPY & SAFE THANKSGIVING" to everyone out there who has been such a huge part of bringing our dream a little closer, and making me just that much smarter! You guys rock!
Good health and much happiness to each and every one of you. Safe travels and happy times wherever you may be!
P.S. "M"... call me!

Happy Thanksgiving all. My boys called today and my daughter texted. Tomorrow they will all three call again. We will talk the past, present, and future. They have started new traditions and continue to carry on some that I gave them. My favorite part of these calls is every time they are ready to hang up........"Love you Mom"(I used to have to say it first but not anymore) I am so blessed! Turkey on the BBQ, neighbors gathering under the awning for a glass of wine, hanging out in tshirts and shorts in the warm Arizona sun..........doesn't get much better.

Oh, so ready to be saying we're enjoying Thanksgiving in the sun. OK, I'm over my sadness (for now), so ready to spend my days chasing sunny weather and 70 F temps!!!
We've shared Thanksgivings in Dallas with everything from the Ice Storm (remember the Dallas Cowboys trying to play football??) event to 80 degrees, Houston with pleasant temps, Seattle with rain, snow, sleet, sun, and any combination of the previously mentioned conditions.
Makes me wonder where we will be next year at this time? Maybe near Tempe AZ getting ready for their big Fall Art Festival????

It is going to be sunny and about 80 degrees here in Tucson on Thanksgiving. That makes me happy.

Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to everyone. This will be our first Thanksgiving on the road. We will miss the family gathering that we've always had at our home. That tradition has now moved on to one of our sons and his family. We will be spending our Thanksgiving with the Camp Director, his family and another RV couple who are volunteers here at Springville Camp and Conference Center in Alabama.

What a day!! Slowly our extended family is learning of our plans to embark on the full time RV life early next year. My Dad and his wife were very well aware of this and very supportive, today's dinner was the first time the rest of that extended family learned of those plans.
They say we'll be missed, but were genuinely happy for us. No one thought we were crazy!!! So while a few were a bit surprised, a couple of them a little worried, most were thinking we were so lucky to be able to embark on what they are viewing as an adventure. They are all looking forward to seeing us on our annual summer trips up here, even had a few comments that we'll have to plan BBQs at our new home in our temporary location as we visit this area. Not quite as sad as I thought the day might be, instead they are all wondering where we'll meet up again on this crazy road of life.

We had the best Thanksgiving, if was the first day of the rest of our lives. Our house closed escrow on Tuesday, paid off the 5th wheel and 99 % of the truck (we have to make 4 payments in order to get a $1000 credit) on Wesdnesday. Even though we have been living in our 5th wheel for 2 1/2 weeks, we had so much to finish up at the house, we couldn't relax. Thursday we just kicked back, relaxed and enjoyed our new home.
We will be heading to some place warm and NOT RAINING by the end of December. Hope to see some of our new friend on the road.
