You got the day right, Mike. We are scheduled at the hospital at 10:30am for x-rays and such and then the procedure itself is at 1:30pm.
In spite of the fact that this should be considered as a preventative hospital visit, I can't help but be just shy of being a "basket case." Family and friends are praying for us (with a few praying for my sanity) and all should be well by the end of the day.
Since you have started this thread, I will come back later this evening and give an update.
For anyone who may have missed the mentions of the medical procedure, Jo had a heart attack 7 years ago with a restricted blood vessel on the back of the heart being the issue. Because of its location so close to a bend in the vessel, they did an angioplasty instead of inserting a stent. Her last stress test visit seemed to show the doctor that there might be a "restricting" in that location. Today's procedure is what is called a heart cath test where they will insert a dye to see the condition of the blood vessel. If there is indeed some restriction, I suppose they will do another angioplasty.
It's the "not knowing" that always drives me nuts. With most things, "not knowing" is not an issue and I accept things as they come. Even with my strong spiritual beliefs, when it comes to my family, "not knowing" is a torment.
Thanks for your thoughts, Mike. We both really appreciate that. Let's face it; this online family is almost as important to me as my blood relation family. All of you, along with so many others are definitely members of my "family of the heart."

Terry, After this is over, I'll tell you my wife's story. I have had 4 angioplasty's. Two included stent insertion. If everything goes well it is much like any simple procedure. The first one included 30 hours on my back with pressure on the wound. The last one they sent me home the same day.

Posting from the hospital on my phone. (First time for that.)They. Jo is fine. Doctor said the "restriction" was apparently a shadow caused be something. There was no need for any procedure being done.
Janni.
Our thoughts and prayers will be on your behalf.

Well, that was an interesting post that I did from my phone. Oddly enough, the font style and font size came out just as it should. As for the word "They" out there all by itself, I can't explain that one.
Jo will be on some restricted activities for 24 hours, and then she will have to refrain from lifting anything over 10 lbs for the next week. So, I guess I now get to be the "gofer" around here for a few days.
While waiting at the hospital, I got to talking with the volunteer manning the surgery waiting room desk and phone. Turns out he has a Damon Intruder (I think that's what he said) 38-foot motorhome. We got to talking RV's and camping and a lady sitting there listening told us that just from our short conversation she was definitely interested in some form of RV'ing.
After the angiogram was done, the volunteer took me down to the "Physician's Consultation" room. (In the past when Jo has had surgeries, the doctors have always came to me in the waiting room to tell me the outcome of the surgery.) So, sitting in that little room waiting, my mind seemed to naturally grow even more concerned with possible negative outcomes for Jo. After getting the good news and the doctor going back to his duties, I had to stay in that little room and let my blubbering and tears come. Even then, when I went back to the waiting room, my new friend was anxious for my news. So, I got to blubber just a bit more.
Thanks to all of you for your good wishes. I told Jo of them and she is appreciative as well. You are one of the best of "families" and I'm proud to be a part of it.
God bless you all.

Terry; Nothing wrong with tears and blubbering, when it's from happiness and relief. God has blessed you and Jo. It took me about a month, had a doctors appointment and went back to the ICU and brought the nurses a bouquet of flowers. Yes; That is when the tears decided to flow. Guess us men do get emotional at times! Pieere

Terry glad all is good with Jo.
On 60 minutes last night there was a segment about hospitals that were making Drs. order patients to be addmitted into the hospital and preform tests and procedures that were unnessaccary to boost their revenue. In some cases the Drs. that were being intriviewed said that the patients were being diagnosed by a computer before the attendding phycian had even had a chance to exammine the patient. And if the Dr. didn't follow hospital protocol they would be reppermanded.
Terry I am not trying to medal in your affairs but after seeing this episode I think I would be trying to get other opinions on if this surgery was really nessaccary or just a money grab.

Jo and I have no issue with whether the original diagnosis was warranted or not. With regards to the heart issue, Jo has been seeing that same doctor religiously for 7 years now. Her follow-up included seeing the "images" that indicate a possible narrowing of the artery. The issue with the needle biopsy and the follow-up lumpectomy actually involved two different health care facilities; one being the Integris Health system doing the detection and the Mercy Health system being involved with the lumpectomy.
Neither of us feel that there was any issue of unnecessary procedures. In fact, we are bouyed by the knowledge that Jo "could be" susceptible to a future issue with breast cancer.
I do appreciate your concern for us, and if we hadn't been dealing with these same health systems over the years, we might have had some second thoughts.
Thanks again to you as well as everyone else who have given us such wonderful feedback.
Now, lets get our thoughts and prayers back to PIERRE and Lucky Mike, among others.

Terry & Jo, I am just reading this, a bit late. So glad for your good results. Merry Christmas! What a fabulous feeling, though, to have read all these comments this morning, and to feel like it is truly family news, and to feel badly that I did not read it sooner and send my love and prayers along with the others. So pleased to have found this family. :)

Whoa: I had 3 stents and a few smaller arteries reopened last March from a STEMI. I hope you are doing okay? I have side effects fro the statin, zocor and was taken off it this past Friday. I take 325 mg. aspirin, lisinopril 2.5 mg, and Plavix 75 mg. replaced the statin with CO Q10. Will keep you on the prayer list as well as my other heart-felt friends. Pieere
