Our engine and coach batteries are in the same compartment. We accidentally left the key on and our engine battery went dead. Can we jump our engine battery using our coach/marine batteries? We got the battery back in operation using a battery charger but it would be nice if we didn't have to dig it out of the inner recesses of the basement and could just jump within the compartment.

Greetings,
On most Itasca motor homes, there is a switch on the dashboard that you can depress and hold and it will allow your house batteries to be used to crank you engine. It may be labelled "Battery Assist" or "MOM" If you have an owners manual, check for its operation.
As for jumpin one with the other, it should work, but I would be careful in attaching the cables. I am not aware of any electronics that could be damaged.

I don't know about the "assist" switch, but I agree with Roz, that if you jump from the coach batteries, be careful that you make sure of how you hook up. A lot of RV's have six-volt batteries hooked up in series to make them 12-volt. I don't know what would happen if one didn't get on the right terminals and thus not have 12-volt to jump with.
