Does anyone have suggestions of good parks to spend a month during jan, feb or mar, in the keys? Or is it possible to get a spot without reservations? Recommendations of parks to stay in on the way to the keys? Any help will be appreciated.
Kurt
I am assuming you are not retired military? If my assumption is wrong, Sigsby Navy Base is a great place to spend the winter in Key West.

This past May, I was in Naples, FL & I checked with many RV parks in the area regarding availablility for Dec - Feb. Everyplace I checked with was completely booked for that time period. I know Naples is not in the Keys, but generally it seems to be a challenge to find a spot in S Florida in a nice park at that time of year, unless you reserve well in advance.

We reserved this past January for 2 months Nov - Dec in Punta Gorda as well as a few other parks during Jan-Feb-Mar Apr in various other locations on the west coast. A year in advance is not too early.
We'll take car trips to the keys as the RV rates are way - way too high - ocean is ocean and mid west coast is beautiful as well.

I feel the same way.......total cost for the season is a whole lot cheaper to stay off the path and commute on day trips.....just with money saved it seems I have more dining , fuel & fun.....
I refuse to pay that kind of money for dirt.....and then have them nickel & dime me to death with add ons just for the view.....postcard is still under a buck and I can take that view with me.

we stayed for a month in July and there is no problem getting a spot and it is cheaper (oh, and hotter), we checked around for winter months and you will have a tough time getting something without reservations... stay in Fort Myers or nearby and you can take a high speed ferry to Key West every now and then on the savings from not staying in the keys...
The parks are normally fully booked in January and February so you need reservations. Prices range from about $1500 (maybe low) to $3500 a month those months and they get it. Try Lazy Lakes on Sugarloaf Key, http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Florida/Sugarloaf_Key.html or Jolly Roger in Marathon, http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Florida/Marathon.html , for reasonable choices. March is a bit easier.
