Our house has been on the market for 19 weeks now. We thought we had it sold once, only to have they buyers back out. Last night I buried a St. Joseph statue. Let's see what happens! Has anyone else done this??

Yes, our good friend Josephine did it prior to our last home sale....it worked, two weeks later we had a deal.

Rob,
If you had skipped the statue it would of been four years before the sale. Don't be dissing the saints.

I guess I'm a little naive, I never heard of this practice before. Anyone want to fill me in?
We used one of the statues when sell ing our house and had an offer within 10 days of burying it. Not saying it works but ......

It works! Our house back east had been on the market for a year or more and that was when the economy was great. My wife’s step father told us to bury the statue (which we did) and a couple of weeks later we had a solid contract. Her step father has bought and sold a bunch of homes and he said the statue has always done the trick.

LOL!!! I forgot about that little fellow. We buried one a couple years ago. It wasn't working so I went out and dug him up them buried him upside down for a new twist. Heck that was at least a year before our house actually sold. So no,, it didn't really work for us.
The sad thing is that that poor little guy is still buried out there upside down LOL!!!

As soon as I signed the contract the statue went into the front yard. 5 weeks later I had a cash offer and I made settlement 8/31. We had one open house and there was nothing for the first two weeks. After that we had a steady stream. I didn't get what I had originally asked but it was a good offer. Now we are in our Rv at a local campground trying to sort out all the stuff we put in here. I think he worked his magic !!!!

I gotta say we buried him upside down underneath the 'for sale' sign. Had a contract in 7 months. Now, not sure if we would've sold it anyway, but it must have helped :)

Most any CATHOLIC religeous goods store will have the "kit", no kidding, the statue and prayer and instructions. We did it for the sale of our boat, and as I recall, he should be buried upside down. I am in a very "Catholic" family and the priest(S) assure me that it is superstition but if one beleives--------- Anyway, it certainly cannot hurt. Hey, there is nothing in the whole matter that guarantees one a sale in the time frame that we mere humans expect. So it did not sell within 10 days, sold in 2 yrs, could have been 5 yrs without, just saying!

This is a great post. I am Catholic and have heard of this tradition before. We are planning on putting our house on the market in 3-6 months. Before I re-sod the back yard, Joe is going in next to the pool.

Our St. Joseph statue was buried today! Have had a few inquiries since we put it on the market in November, but nothing serious. So thought we would give it a try. We are not Catholic but are devout Christians. Not so sure about praying through a Saint to intercede for us, as this is not something we do in the Methodist faith, but do believe in the power of prayer so will give this a try. So we are also asking for your prayers no matter what your belief.

Our house still hasn't sold. It's been on the market almost a year now. Maybe I need to dig him up and put him somewhere else???

I'm a retired real estate broker. yes I have had clients do this. i've never suggested it to clients. My understanding is if and when you do it follow 3 rules. 1. Tell no one. Don't discuss it o/s family. 2. Everyone in family that knows about it must pray every night for Gods devine intervention. 3. Saint barried "Upside down"? Good luck. Suggest you start all over.... Some suggest that location of Saint important..... personally, don't think so.

If you can't find a St. Joseph statue, will a bottle of St. Joseph's aspirin work as well? After all, selling a house is one big headache... ;c)

My worry would be is that the statue is an imitation.......did you check the bottom to see if it was made in China, the quality one's come from Rome or Jerusalem!!! ....................
