looking to find out some info on repairing a scratch in the gel coat i think i can buff most of it out with compound I will try that but i have one spot that is 3 inches long and to deep to buff i found some things on youtube about gel coat repair kits i`m not sure were i will find it in my area. I was wondering if anyone has used it and is it the same color match because the videos i found they did not paint just sanded and buffed .

Go to West Marine .com and look for their color matching kits. You can take any base white gel coat and tint it to your liking. Depending on what you need, Lowes or Home Depot will give you a little squirt of any of the base colors, yellow, brown, blue, black. Just take a little cup to the paint counter. All the color pigments are the same, reguardless of what it goes in. I repair alot of old boats with worn out gel coat this way.
