Quick question for the RV Dreams family, would you travel with your 83 year old mother in the back. Conditions are as follows, 45' Motorhome, two front seats of coarse have nice Flexsteel captains chairs with seatbelts. Back is the standard configuration, Flexsteel sofa / booth combo, your mom would be in the back. Mom would not move of coarse, unless stopped.(or crashed)

My first reaction is what was her response to the question? Was it an informed response (i.e., does she know how the ride/seat will feel)?
If it was me, I would consider if my mother/mother-in-law was a young/old “83” – does she have the spirit and agility of a 60-70-83 year old and consider that against the ride/comfort that you have historically experienced traveling in your motorhome.
Short answer, without knowing the specifics, as long as her decision is informed and you both would enjoy her traveling with you – go for it!

I (we)would put her in the back with seat belt and a foot stool or recliner. The other women in my life would want to be the navigator.

Genecop, I say sit her down in the booth with her favorite drink, a Chippendate calendar, and be sure to raise the shades so she can enjoy the views! Look, 83 or not, if she's capable, then make her happy, eh? Greatest feeling in the world is to pay back mom for all she has sacrificed for us. Capiche?

It depends upon Mom, of course. If she is anything like my mother was, she will love two things about the idea. One would be seeing more of this great country and the second BETTER reason is that she could spend more time with her son.
I'd say go for it if she is up to it and may good fortune fall on all of you.

We did it last year with 86 year old for three day trip. She sat in passenger captain chair. That's called AHIP....Age Has It's Priviledges.

Good on you Gene and your DW for even considering such a venture. Giving back to your mother some valuable time that she obviously shared with you when she could is a wonderful idea. Whats the worst that can happen if it doesn't work out, you take her home? If you stay with-in a days drive of her home the first couple days should give you idea on what to expect.
