I am planning on hitting the road with my family in a fifth wheel for an extended period of time. I am a christian recording and performing musician and have conections around the country of places that I could perform at. The trip is 2 fold, 1 is to extend the reach and influence of my music and ministry and 2 is to let my kids see the great country and have the experience of a lifetime. My kids are all young. 8,6,4 and 2 years old and my wife homeschools them. I want to keep our overheads really low because income is not guaranteed.
I'm planning to buy a used ford f-350 2003-2005 (10k-20K) and a used 5th wheel 2002-2006 (10k-20k)
Is this doable and what should I look out for?
Thank you!!

Frank,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will soon find out that there are a lot of helpful and friendly folks here.
In answer to your question, it is a viable option for your plans. However, when looking at the RV's pay attention to the weight capabilities of the truck when choosing a fifth wheel so that you don't get a trailer that is too heavy for the truck. Considering that you are transporting your family, you want your traveling to be as trouble free as possible. With that in mind, I'm not sure an F350 would be heavy enough to safely tow anything weighing 20,000 lbs. Many suggest that one choose a fifth wheel before a truck so that one doesn't buy a truck that ends up being smaller than what one needs for their family.
Good luck with your researching and planning. We look forward to your questions.
