My wife, Jackie Ogden, and I are looking forward to her retirement and full-time RVing. We are starting the search for our new home and, as you can all imagine, we're overwhelmed with the choices that have to be made. I look forward to picking all your brains and benefiting from the wealth of experience that we will find on this forum.

We were where you are 6 to 7 years ago. Time flies when you are having fun. We attended 2 "Life on Wheels" seminars to get informed before buying an RV.. That was where we first met Howard and Linda [ they taught there first seminar there] We have now been fulltimers for almost 5 years and have been on the road for over 4 years. My advise is to attend one of Howard and Lindas rallies. We attended their first one in Branson Mo. in '08. They share a world of knowledge for people starting out in the RV world. You can learn a great deal right here on this forum. It is better to learn from others experiences and mistakes than to learn the hard way.

Welcome to Hall and Jackie.
First of all, let me to thank you for your service to our country. You will find a lot of vets here, although we seldom talk of it. After all, it is an RV forum.
We will welcome all your questions as we all tend to learn from each other, and you aren't the only new ones to the forum nor the research for the right RV. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here with information concerning just about every type of RV.
Attend as many RV shows as possible, check out dealerships, and do a lot of internet research. We went through two years of research to find what we wanted, and we did all of the above.
Since you plan on full-timing, consider how you will do that. For example, will it be north in summer and south in winter? If so, you might not need a really well insulated RV, although the insulation helps in every climate.
In addition to asking questions here, also check out the member's blogs. The information given there is valuable in seeing how folks are living in theirs and what problems they may have had.
But, whatever you do, have fun doing it.

We were in the same spot as you 2 years ago. We looked as so many 5th wheels my eyes went crossed. We went to every RV show and dealership we could find before we decided to buy. We read forums and blogs as part of our research too. When the time to buy came we knew what we wanted and liked. It was just a case of finding one in the price range we wanted. Good luck in your search and keep us posted in what you decide.
