How do you Maintain your slide seals and or gaskets? Or do you maintain them at all.
Back when we had personal watercraft that we used in the ocean I would spray down the engine compartment and all rubber components with silicone spray. Silicone worked wonders in maintaining the rubber hoses and grommets.
After 5 to 6 years all the rubber parts looked as good as new.
I'm considering doing the same for the slide seals on my MH unless someone sees a problem with doing it.

Yep, silicone spray. Can't beat it for that. Mine gets cleaned and then sprayed twice a year.

I use a product from CW......made for slide seal. Once a year, I also spray and maintain the moving parts for the slide, another spray, once a year.....

Same as Gene here, slide lube on the slides and use a dry lube on the gears and moving parts underneath. I usually do it once in the spring and again in the fall.

I have to check out the "stuff" from CW. I'm sure it has silicone in it. Thanks for the info.

when I was in Red Bay Alabama I asked the service guys for Tiffin Motorhomes and I was told to not use anything on on the seals... another tip they gave me was to make and NOT wax the inside walls of your slides as it makes the seals less effective in gripping the slide to ensure a proper seal...

Heyduke,
I can understand the wax part but am curious about the seals. I've used silicone on rubber for years with no adverse affects. You got me wondering why Tiffin said not to use anything on the seals!? I guess I'm going to have to do further investigation on the subject. Maybe it's the same reason as the wax, all about sealing tight when the slides are open.

About two or three times a year I spray mine down with silicone spray. Also spray the rollers and moving parts underneath. No problems in many years.

I guess I should have asked why but I just didn't. I had heard about many ways to take care of them but the service tech told me not to use anything. I am doing what he said and will see over time if he knew what he was talking about.
