We bought a 2001 Mountain Aire and are very satisfied. Ours also was low mileage and everything in it has been high quality. I wouldn't question the coach as much as that deposit.

We are looking at a 2000 Mountain Aire 4060. It's at Camping World of Indianapolis. Their asking 70,000 and we offered 65,000. They won't tell us if they accept our offer unless we give them $1000 deposit.
I told the salesman we wanted to drive the MH before we get finanially involed. He said they need the deposit upfront to hold the unit for us. We decided to take a chance and wait for our bank to pre-approve a loan.
The unit is on a Spartan frame with 350 Cummins and less than 27,000 miles.
A couple of things I noticed was some wrinkles in headliner near front A/C and solar charger for chassis batteries not indicating charging.
Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated.
Thanks, Wayne

That Newmar solar charger is almost useless so when they break, like ours has, about no one replaces it. Of course we have a much better solar charging setup than the little thing Newmar installed.
Newmar has had some problems with the roof clear coat coming loose, which might be your "wrinkles".
I think 2000 Mountain Aire's are painted so look closely at the dark painted areas for paint checking, a fiberglass problem, which is where the fiberglass threads pop up.

I would run away if a dealership said that to me.

I have never heard of a dealership wanting a deposit to make an offer !?! That throws up all kinds of red flags in my mind. I would be real careful if you continue working with this dealer. At least make sure you can get the deposit back if you decide against the purchase..

Run, don't walk away from that one!!!!
Those wrinkles more than likely mean that there is or has been a leak up there and there could be severe damage to the ceiling joists.
Like the others have said, can't imagine a dealer wanting a deposit first!!
RUN!!!!!! Find a different dealer!!! There's more out there.

We passed on this unit. The salesman kept calling after I told him we wanted to think about it a few days and get our own financing. Their finance person called wanted to encourage us to use their bank. Told him good-by(click).
When I ask about the ceiling. The sales guy said he didn't know what it was, but they would fix it. I could see it was a water leak. (duh)
