Since we don't have a combo, I'll just have to report on what I've read somewhere. It seems that someone on one of the forums that I participate at reported that their combo unit vented through the water drain in some manner. So, since the 7100 is a ventless, maybe that is how the air is vented for this model.
Hopefully, someone who actually owns one can give you a better idea of the venting system on that model and how they work. For the life of me, I can't recall what was said by that individual that mentioned the venting through the drain thought of his Splendide.

I would love to hear from anyone who owns or has owned this model. DH is somewhat hesitant about cutting a hole in the MH side for a vent but if this model is not that good he may have to. Thanks

I have the splendide 2000s, and I'm very happy to have it. Yes it is small and does take longer, but I have found if I keep the loads small I don't have the problems that people complain about (ie long dry time, and wrinkled clothes) I also hang dry a lot of our shirts. I do use the laundry room once a week to wash our bedding and towels I could do these in my machine but prefer to use the larger machine for these items for time saving. We are stationary full timers until my husband retires and the neighbors that I talk to that don't have machines wish they did. My dream coach would have the stack unit, but I currently don't have that option so I'm happy with what I have and if that is all that will fit in your rig to me it is worth it.
Good luck,
Karen

We have the 2100XC (vented) and are extremely pleased with it. Sure beats having to haul laundry to the laundromat. The un-vented models use water during the dry cycle so if your dry camping and managing your on-board water supply then it could be an issue. I didn't want to cut a hole in the side of our MH either, so I had my dealer do the install for us. I remember when we had ours installed, everything I read from full-timers posts recommended get the vented model. While it takes a long time to dry a load when using any 120V dryer, the consensus at the time was the vented model dryed loads better.

The Splendide that came with our 2004 Diplomat that we purchased in 2008 never did work quite right and as time went on it got worse. When it worked it did a good job and I would like to replace it except for the cost. When it stopped working we took it out (quite a job!) and threw it away. I hate using laundromats so this spring we bought a Haier washing machine. The cost was just $200. It does about the same size load as the Splendide but of course it just washes and I hang the clothes up on a rack that my DH built for me to hang on the back ladder. I figure if it lasts 6 months it will pay for itself in laundromat cost. I've had it for over a month and it works well, fits in about 1/2 the space of the Splendide. It is a top loader so there isn't much room to slide the clothes in. Haier also makes a small 120V dryer and that may be our next purchase but I hope not to be living anywhere where I can't hang my clothes out.

Edit: I just found this here on RV Dreams. Link to thread about washer/dryer combo.
