I have had a dream for the last 10 years of full-timing when my husband and I retire. Lately it has become an all encompassing nag. So I joined the forum to connect with others that have same interests in hopes of scratching that itch, so to speak. My husband is a freight train conductor and it is hard to get the time off to hit the road...someday though.

After reading a few other posts, I felt the need to post more about my little family and our hopes, wishes, wants, lol.
So, my name is Christie and my husband of 12 years is Marc. Marc is a freight train conductor and I work part time. We have a surprise addition to our family, 18 month old Jacob. He is quite a blessing and we are not going to let him slow us down. On contrary, we are excited about sharing our lives, adventures and interests with someone else. We both love the outdoors and rvs have allowed us to enjoy our hobbies in comfort. I grew up camping a lot with my parents as it was always the most affordable vacation for us. It was usually in a tent or back of the pickup with a truck shell my Dad made. We also traveled a lot with the horses. Later he got a '73 slide-in truck camper and my sister and I thought that was the lap of luxury!
Marc's Dad is a full-timer in a class A diesel pusher. He tows a Chevy truck with a golf cart in the bed (cute, huh?) So shortly after getting married we knew we wanted to continue the pursuit of traveling and camping so we bought a Rockwood pop-up, the biggest they made. Unfortunately, we don't have a garage and should have built a shed for it but didn't so when we found out the roof was in bad shape from sitting out in the sun and weather we traded it with a neighbor for a 27ft '94 Wilderness Prowler (although we had to give a dirt bike to boot). About 3 years ago we bought a '05 Dutchmen Citation with a super slide. It feels like the Hilton compared to the Prowler, lol. Then came our son and we are now wishing for the bunks that were in the back of the Prowler. Oh well, he doesn't know the difference yet and one day we will upgrade anyway.
Marc and I talk about full timing almost everyday. I get magazines and one of my favorite things to do is go to the RV showrooms and drool. But retirement is about 20 years away so I guess we have plenty of time to save.

Welcome to the forums.
It certainly doesn't hurt to be researching and doing some planning. There have been a few here that didn't "plan" to go full time until something happened in their lives to make them look at the lifestyle more seriously.
You will find a lot of knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful folks here that are more than willing to help educate and encourage.

Thank you all. If my husband had a more "portable" job then we would head out now. We are both so certain this is for us. We hit the road every chance we get...long weekends, a couple weeks here and there throughout the year. But in these financial times we certainly can't justify him leaving such a secure job with great benefits. We just hope that with the way things are going that RVing will still be a choice when we retire.
