Now I am really excited! This is gonna make me wanna pack my "stuff" faster then ever!
We were offered a Camp Host position today, that I think for our first real official gig is a pretty good deal.
The best part is that our first job is only about 45 miles from our home. So it will be a good start for testing the waters before heading South this winter.
Who knows...if I like our employer we may follow them South if they offer us employment!
We work 20 hrs. per person a week and get W,E,S hook up, a company truck with credit card for gas, all hours worked are paid a salary and uniforums are provided!
Job starts on May 10th so this still gives us some time to complete getting rid of our stuff and tying up loose ends!

Anyone of us who has work camped knows that it can be very exciting and rewarding. I hope that it is for you.
There are a couple of educational things about being a newbie at work camping. One is knowing that you were able to get the job to start with. There is a lot of competition for good ones and you prevailed. You get a gold star.
Another is gaining experience, good or bad, to further your idea of what makes the ideal work camping job for you after this one. I think that most of us who have been doing work camping over the years would rate the experiences very much on the positive side...even fun most of the time.
Yep, it is a Woo-hoo moment. Your enthusiam is justified. Congrats!!

That is what we originally started out looking for...jobs for just FHU and site. But when we were contacted with this offer for FHU with Truck and hourly wage for all hours worked...we thought that was a pretty good deal for our first ever camp host job! :)
We are extreamly excited and moving into high gear trying to have everything sold and taken care of by May 1st. It is a TON of work, I will be so glad when we are thru the "getting rid of stuff" stage.
I hope we can pull it together so we can have an estate sale in a few weeks!

CONGRATULATIONS Ken and Mary!! It is exciting and a relief to receive that first job offer. Do a good job and future jobs will fall into place. Employers like to see references and work history.

Thanks Kim!
We just received and filled out all of our Employee documents like W4's and stuff like that.
So funny, I have not had to fill out those things in YEARS! We have been self empolyed for 25 years so working for someone else is so totally different! :)
Took a ride a few days ago to go look over our campground and I really like the area alot. Very nice facilities, nice beach and just a really nice campground over all. Was suprised at how big the lots are and how far apart they are from each other!
I think AL&L will be a great company to work for....I can't wait for May 10th!
Things are CRAZY here at our S&B...trying to get everything out of the house and ready for a yard sale is so much work...I WILL BE GLAD when this part is over that is for sure...trying to clear out a 3,600 square foot house with 2 large out buildings stuffed full is...........CRAZY!

Wow! Mary, you sound really busy, I bet the new job will be a lot less stressful than what you guys are going through getting out of the S&B lol. Good luck with getting everything done, try to keep in mind that it is 'just stuff'.....easier said than done I know.
