I woke to check email, this board, etc., with a new message from "Celinesky." After reading this message, it's obviously spam. Can you assist with this matter?

Me too! I suspect everyone signed up on the forums got it. Question is how did they get into the system? Even if this person had access to log into the forums, who would spend that much time individually sending a private message to every single member? Or is there a way to send a broadcast message in private mail?

Sorry everyone.
Unfortunately, anyone can sign up for the forum. There are some security measures in place, but if they complete the registration via their email confirmation, they can become active without approval.
I have deleted the user and banned them from the Forum. We try to get these taken care of as soon as possible.
In your Profile Settings, there is a setting "Email visible to other members?" If the setting is yes, registered members can see it.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks Howard for banning of Celine. Recieve in both Gmail spam and private forum messages. I never answer the person or business if I am not positive of if it is legit. Recieved one the other day from "VERIZON" billing me for 900.00+ dollars and I hold no accounts with Verizon, looked very similiar to the official website.
We need to be very alert to these con-artists! They will step to any level to scam us! Thanks for keeping this forum clean! Pieere

The culprit became a member early this morning and we deleted them as soon as we heard about the first spam private message.
Unfortunately, it got through to several people.
Now, some folks got what they thought was a spam message to their email. In fact, that was a notification message sent from the Forum software. Most members have their settings set up so that an email is sent from the Forum software to notify them a private message has been received inside the Forum.
So, I'm not aware that the spammer sent a message to email accounts. But the Forum software probably did send a message about the PM to email accounts.
Hope that helps clarify a little more and again, we're sorry for the inconvenience.

Howard, I'm on another forum (not an RV one) where members can't pm anyone but moderators or admin until they have 25 posts. Yes, sometimes it causes a small amount of inconvenience. But if the person is legit it really doesn't take long to get the 25 posts, and spammers rarely do that. Now maybe that's not something you would want to do, or maybe the software doesn't allow for it, but I thought I'd mention the idea for your consideration. (Don't I sound nice and pompous, lol )
