Just keep in mind that Alfa Leisure, Inc. went out of business in 2008 so no factory support if you should need it. That being said, most of the components are bought from outside vendors so you could probably get parts and info from them, depending on what you need.

Thank you:) Yeah, I just read the RV review on them, apparently the owners have formed some sort of 'club' for replacement parts, but I think I would prefer to stick with a MH that has support from the manufacturers, looks like Tiffin/allegro are the only sure bets out there right now? I hear a lot of good things about these coaches as far as longevity even after a 'lot' of mileage.
We still have plenty of time to make our decision, we get lots of great info from you guys on this forum though.

If you're looking at motorhomes and want company longevity I'd stick with (in no particular order) Winnebago, Tiffin, Thor, Newmar and Fleetwood. Those are the ones that come to mind although I'm sure others have the stability to weather the economic gyrations.

I owned an Alfa 2003. That's about when Johnny Crean started having trouble and taking shortcuts. Be very careful, ours was a dog, that needed repairs EVERY time we used it.

The alfas we looked at all had decals on the exterior. Most if not all had pealing to one degree or another, this turned us off to them.

I would look hard at Foretravel. I would take an older Foretravel over a newer most anything else. They are handcrafted in Texas and built solid - like a tank.

Alfa's came in 2 types..those that were good and those that were bad. We had both. With the 2004's be careful of the slide outs. They had a lot of slide out motor troubles. We went through 5 motors in 6 months. They finally retro fitted the slide out with a new type of motor that did better. It is too bad the quality was so poor for they sure were easy to live in with plenty of storage.

Thank you for the info guys, appreciate the knowledge that you share, I will cross Alfa's off the list. Jay gets home in May, so we will be ready to go out and check out the shortlisted DP's after that, it's good to have an idea of what to look for. We already know that we will not be handing over any money until we have had a full inspection done by a proffessional!

I would add Monaco to your list...2008 or older. Ours has been a great performer with very few problems. Monaco does support the pre-Navistar coach owners. Best of luck in your search.

Thank you Dan:) We will keep an eye open for those too, I am thinking that we will probably be buying ours in the 'earlier' build years though, not sure we can afford the newer ones, well not our first one at least

Good deal. If you want to do some window shopping check out DeMartini RV for ideas and pricing. Have fun.

We suggest you join RV.org . It is well worth it.
You can get an independent opinion from a professional in the industry who knows his stuff. He does not take advertising, so his ratings are based on safety, customer satisfaction and design, as well as useability criteria.
You purchase either Motorhomes or Trailers database and can look up any make/model by year, etc. to get deailed info - including current estimated value, and make an informed decision.
No ... I am not a sales rep, just a firm believer in their product. We have both the TT and the MH versions as we are currently searching for our 3rd RV to full-time in.
Have fun looking!

By now I think you see the trend to stay away from the Alfas
Towards the end their products started to suffer from quality issues.
I have a few mh on my wish list based upon reviews and what owners have indicated:
Tiffin
Safari/Beaver
Intrigue
Monaco
This past weekend I saw a brand new Bounder mh and was impressed.
Of course my real wish is a million dollar bus mh but that's a few lifetimes or a lotto win away.

PPL lists coaches in descending price order, or the most expensive ones show up at the top of every list. For a good reality check, look at whatever coach is at the top of the list. Note their ID number (card taped to the windshield or front of trailer) and the asking price. Keep watching that coach and note how quickly the price is reduced. I've heard that there is a way to see what a particular coach sold for, but so far I haven't found it.

If you want one of those "million dollar buses," take a look at http://www.buybyebluebird.com/ or http://motorhomesoftexas.com/ for some used ones. Prices are much less than $1,000,000.
