Hi all! My name is "Liz." I will go FT with my dog next February. My plan is to sell my house and drive around for about a year. Not earning money for a year kind of scares me...I'm already feeling poor!
After doing a lot of research, I will officially purchase a 2002 Dutch Star tomorrow. The price was good even though it's in Texas and I'm in Virginia. My next challenge will be to fly down to Texas and drive it back. Since I have never driven anything larger than an SUV, I hope to find someone local to help me out with driving lessons before I go down.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Hope to see some of you out there!

Liz,
Take a look at this sight it has pretty good videos on driving a MH. Getting hands on instruction is always a good idea. Your local RV dealers will have the names of local driving instructors.
Congratulations. Sounds like you have picked a good RV. Be sure that better you drive off the lot that you do a full PDI and if you can have a professional come with you, all the better. See if you can get them to agree to allow you to take delivery, spend a few nights at a nearby campground and address any issues you find or answer any questions that arrive. A coach like the Dutch Star should be easy to drive as long as you remember to "swing-wide" on those right hand turns. Have them go with you around the area and give you as many driving tips as possible. Don't rush and don't let them rush you. If you are solo there's no turning back once you have the keys and they have the money.

Good luck Liz. A great adventure is ahead of you. Once you get on the freeway, it's all downhill.
Good luck

Make sure YOU check the air in the tires before you leave the lot.

Thanks everyone. I also have the DVD "Drive Your Motorhome Like A Pro" which I have watched and plan to watch again. I called the local RV dealer and they don't know of any local driving instructors. I will put an ad on Craigs List.
