After being in the shadows for the last few months,I've decided to introduce ourselves.
I'm Chris and I'm just a few weeks from retiring working in the food and hospitality industry(waitress). My wonderful husband is Bruce and he's an IT specialist. He's also a disabled Vet with 16 yrs in the Marines.
We live in the foothills of South Carolina, and we love it here. Two years ago,we rented an RV and traveled to Minn. and since then our conversations have been interesting to say the least."Dear Lord,I wish we could live like this....maybe we Could live like this.....Could we live like this?"lol...Now are conversations are "we are Doing this".
We do not have our RV yet,but we're close to deciding which will fit our family. It will be Bruce and I and our two "fur kids",with the possibility of our youngest daaughter Katie(who is blessing us with our fist grandbaby in May).We have decdided to keep a home base here for now,for Katie's sake.(Someone has to babysit the 60 inch TV)I'm sure that Katie and granddaughter will travel with us from time to time,so we are looking at either a 5th with a bunkhouse,or a class A with a toad.
we are aiming for 18months.It was going to be sooner, however with grandbaby on the way,we added a year.We want to make sure Katie has a good start with the new baby, and will able to support herself..and if not, she'll be coming with us.The more the merrier I say!!And it couldn't happen fast enough for Bruce and I.
We've already started our downsizing,as we are moving into a smaller apartment later this month.Already have 3 piles ready ...what to give the kids, what to donate and what to sell.oh and what is trash....(where some of this stuff came from...Good Lord,I don't know.and "did i really wear that?")
I'm looking forward to talking with ya'll and hopefully meeting you down the road.
Chris and Bruce Morrison!

Let me also welcome you to the forums and hopefully, the lifestyle. Feel free to ask questions because there is no better way to learn. One of the great things about these forums is that not only will folks answer your questions, they may also offer alternative ideas.
Always remember, there are no dumb questions EXCEPT the ones that aren't asked. If one doesn't ask the question, one won't get the answers needed.
Also, on behalf of my wife and myself, allow me to offer our thanks to Bruce for his military service and to you for being there for him. God bless our military and their families.

Welcome folks. This site has been helpful to me and Tina(aka The Navigator). There are great folks always willing to help. We have a Tiffin 35QBA that has bunk beds that our grand kids love.
Congrats on the new addition to the family.
Semper Fi Bruce,
Thank you for your service

Welcome Chris and Bruce! Our hardest decision was choosing between a 5th wheel and a MH. We wanted the features of both but finally decided on the MH. You just can't have both although we tried too!!
again welcome to the forum!

Thank You all for the warm welcome everyone! I know the time will fly by,and I'm not shy...believe me I'll definitely be asking questions. Right now,it's research and reading and looking at all kinds of blogs and websites. We are going to a show next weekend locally, just to glean more info and to try and decide on our Rig.Our plan is to buy our rig, take small trips, try and get it the way we want, and live in it for 3-6 months before we fulltime. We definitely plan on doing alot of boondocking,so solar panels and satellite and all that good stuff is on our list. And BTW 90% of the time,I'll be driving!!Bruce will be our Navigator!!Everyone is much happier with that decision. Again thanks for the welcome!!

Welcome Chris & Bruce! Grats on the grandbaby! As others have said the time will really fly by - keep working on those piles! We spent 2 years emptying a S&B - 7 or 8 tag sales, multitude listings on CL & ebay, trailer load after trailer load to the local shelter - and still I managed to fill half my mom's attic!

Welcome Chris and Bruce, We live in SC too, in North Charleston nr the base, my hubby is a 23 yr retired AF, he is still doing the same job, but is now a cvilian. Congrats on the upcoming baby:) We don't have our rig yet either, but we are cutting the list down, I think we will end up with a Calss A DP (if we are lucky) We have been thiking about moving onto the famcamp on base after we buy ours, just so we can cut down on the S&B expenses and pay more off the RV payments, that will also give us chance to work out any bugs in the rig and have them fixed before we go on the road fulltime:)
There are a lot of very nice folks on here that will answer your questions for you, you definitely came to the right place:) Kim x
