We are moving up with our goat from a pt cruiser to a wrangler. We believe we need to tow the jeep with all 4 down. What I want to know is can I run the wiring for lights etc from the M/h right back to the rear and plug into the light conection on the jeep. I know this would be a longshot but would save a lot of hassle. Any info would be greatly recieved. Rob and Dust

There is a kit available to run the wiring from the front grill of the jeep that includes a socket that can be inserted into the jeep tailight housing to provide stop, tail & turn functions. simple installation that runs off the electrical provided by the mh. Not a hassle and does not deplete your jeep battery.
How was this accomplished with the PT?

Thanks for the info.We used magnetized lights on the pt but just wanted something more permanent on the Jeep We also had the pt on a dolly

I tow a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I would not plug the wiring from the motor coach into the wiring harness of the Jeep without having isolation diodes installed. These diodes keep any voltage from the coach from feeding back into the wiring of the Jeep. If the Wrangle is a new one, you will have to tow with the battery disconnected anyway so that indicates to me that the Jeeps wiring is pretty sensitive. Our Wrangle is a 4 door model and the wiring run is pretty long. All that wire creates a lot of voltage drop due to the internal resistance of the wire so the lights are pretty dim when towing. I am looking installing a separate LED light fixture. They are pretty cheap,

thanks everyone for your reply. I think I will do as you are Ahoweth and install a light bar . I made one up that goes into my tow hitch on the jeep but used ordinary bulbs. Will now look at LEDs. My Wrangler is a four door and is great for our travels

I tow a Jeep Liberty and use a Brake-Buddy and Blue Ox tow bar . It became very complicated to install. We do connect the wiring from the MH to the jeep wiring harness. The Manual for the installation of Brake Buddy was different from the manual of the Jeep in regard to having the key turned on or off. The installers had to install isolating diodes which cuts off power to the jeep computer but the wiring from the coach keeps the Jeep battery charged and braking and signal lights work with MH. Jeep key must stay on and headlights on MH must be turned on for proper towing on my settup. You could run into trouble if not wired correctly. We have been using this configuration for almost a year with no problem. I'm glad I used a professional installer that consulted with Jeep, Blue Ox and Brake-Buddy before installing.

I don't know how they wired our Jeep. I have a knife switch on the Jeep battery. I disconnect the Jeep battery before I plug in the cord from the MH. All lights on the Jeep are powered from the MH. We do have to leave the key in the Jeep to un-lock the steering wheel.

I forgot to add that they installed a separate DC { cigarette lighter type} outlet under the dash of my Jeep for the Brake Buddy to plug into which gets power from MH.

I have completed the installation of the LED lights on the Jeep. I too tow a 2008 Jeep 4-door. The LED lights are bright even with the voltage drop in the wire run from the coach. I still need to do some tweeking on the mountings, which I built myself but it looks pretty promising right now. I took some pictures but I don't know how to include them in the post.
