I have an RV park here in southern calif. about 20 mins from me that has some of the most expensive rates I've seen. I just wonder what the most expensive park you have seen or stayed in?
You can pay as much as $2500.00 a month to stay at Newport Dunes in Newport Beach, CA. That's $2500.00 for a concrete pad and a little grass. I stayed there years ago and it is a nice resort but they have priced way above me now.
Bill that's an expensive park as well! And I thought California's were the only ones with enough nerve to charge that amount.

By contrast, next door to us here in Oklahoma City is Twin Fountains RV Park that charges $575 per month. I don't know if they are metered on monthly charges.
We looked at mobile home parks and they ranged from $190 per month up to $350 per month. Most don't include utilities, but the one where we are is on a well so we have water and sewer included in our rates.
Methinks that when we finally get to travel in our RV, we may spend more time in an area so we can explore it better and take advantage of any mobile home parks that can accomodate RV's.

Terry,
Thats kind of my train of thought. When we finally leave southern cal next year we'll head north to Washington state and visit the kids for a while. Then we'll head east to New England roughly a 3000 mile trip and take about 12 weeks to complete the journey. 250 miles or so per week so lots of time to explore. spend a month or 2 in New England and then head south.
This may or may not work out but once you're retired who cares!

About the only downside I can see using Mobile Home parks is missing out on meeting a lot of fellow traveler's as you move about.

$65 a night during a holiday weekend is the most we've ever paid. It was a 3 day minimum.
We had to wait two years before we made the top of the waiting list for the July 4th weekend stay.
Actually, now that I think about it, our most expensive stay was the weekend we stayed at an RV park and decided to go look at new RV's. We ended up buying one. That was an expensive weekend stay.

And it is probably full in season. That is an expensive area for housing also, especially on the water.
In the Los Angelas area many have a 40 to 70 mile commute because they can't afford housing close to their work.
Another expensive place is Sunshine Key RV Resort in the Florida Keys, http://www.rvonthego.com/Sunshine-Key-RV-Resort.html . It gets full so others think it is worth it.
