Have been sitting at Morride now since Monday noon , waiting for my new suspension system to be installed. Their quiet time in November seems to have vanished. I guess this is good for them. On a pleasent note ,when I checked in on Monday I was surprised to see Bill and his wife in the waiting room , very small world. Talked to him about his talk in Severeville on the new power dishes and the one I put on my unit works great. Forgot to mention to him that when you buy your Direct TV boxes from Camping World and want them to be turned on you have to pay $70. per box to use your owened reciever. Oh well what can you do. Look forward to work being compleated on Thursday. This is my first post. Hope not to awful.

Great to see you again, George, even if I didn’t recognize you.We had such a crowd at the last spring RV-Dreams Rally I just couldn’t place every face with a name.
Good things happen at MOR/ryde with a little patience.Took 2-1/2 days to put in our IS suspension but the wait was well worth it.They asked me for three days up front and got us out early in 2-1/2 LOL.But hey, they buy you lunch every day, provide free Wifi and don’t make you sit in a motel room but allow you to stay in your rig overnight.Such a deal IMO.
Say hello to Gary and the gang.
Safe travels

Welcome to the forums, George. We always welcome folks with both questions and comments. Feel free to provide us with both.
If you get a chance, give us some insight as to what kind of rig you have, what your future plans are (full-timing or part-timing), and how big your family is. We generally take an interest in folks' hobbies and other interests as well.

Bill, they told me the work would be one day when I booked the work. as of now we will be here five full days. I know it will be worth it but with all things the truth is the best policy. It is always nice to see people you have meet along the way and hope to see you soon.

If you don't mind, please send me a Private Email via the forum and let me know who told you one day. While it won't make a difference, that is just not correct. MOR/ryde has always been right up front with me as to time required.
You can't do an IS in one day under most circumstances as the IS is customized for each trailer by exact measurment. While the componets are in stock, the final fabrication has to be done for "your" trailer. That's part of what makes the IS such an improvement over "springs."
I'm very sorry for your delay. I know it can be frustrating.

Bill, When I booked the work at the Hersey RV show the Rep told us that you arrive the day before and the work is done the next day and your on the road. All parts are in stock and for the work we were to have done would be a normal work day. I think the big problem is while we sit here they keep taking what they say are all emergency work. That is like saying we got you and we can do what we want.

Hi Terry and Jo, Where to start. We have a 36 foot Alpinlite fifth wheel and really love it. This is our second fiver in 6 years. the first was a 31 foot Salem fiver and we really loved it.The problem was that we loved it too much. The RV lifestyle just grew on us and we decided to plan for the future and purchased a unit more prepared for a fulltime future. We will be selling our home in the spring and will be fulltime I hope by this time nextyear. My wife Lauren and I are now both retired and have more time for travel. We are also !8th Centuray Living Historians for the American revolution period and do Military and Civilian impressions. We also do a lot of volunteer work with Artsquest in Bethlehem PA in many different positions . When Laurens Uncle sells his home he will also go fulltime and I mention this because he was the one to bring us to RV Dreams in Severeville and the rest is now happining. Enough for now.

Actually, based on my 5+ years of experience with MOR/ryde they don’t do business the way you described. When I had a bearing failure, not their part that failed by the way, they shipped a lot of parts to me on a Saturday when no one is there to do the shipping work. The manager came in and did it himself and that was about 200 lbs worth of parts that required special shipping.I called very late on a Friday afternoon after close of normal business and I still got the parts at the repair shop Monday AM in New Mexico. They took all my calls so I could relate to the repair shop in New Mexico just how the work should be done including all the torque values, etc. That is but one of my good experiences at MOR/ryde.All perfect, no.But mostly great service and always good service.
Now, as far as booking at the RV-Dreams Rally some months ago.I’ll just be up front, did you call a few days ahead and confirm all was “OK?”Was that your responsibility?Probably not; but dealing with a shop that does as much work as MOR/ryde does (actually any facility) without a confirmation a few days ahead can lead to disappointment.I am not saying this is not their fault.I am saying that they don’t do business the way you have experienced based on my 5 years of dealing with them. But, I do check ahead and try to adjust as required.
I know for a fact the Chief Engineer at MOR/ryde went out of his way to help with my problem even though it was not a MOR/ryde part.I also know that the service there, for me, has been top notch but I do stay in close contact with them should they have unforeseen problems.
I am not defending them, but I am relating what I have done to overcome some frustrations.I do this with all my “RV appointments.”That seems to help me and as you move into this great life on wheels perhaps that information will help you a bit.
At least you can enjoy the free lunch(s) they provide each day.

George,
I am very sorry for your delay. You obviously know the drill and took all possible precautions to avoid delay.
Not my fault but I am sorry you drew the short straw. Even the best screw up from time to time.
Hope to see you at the next rally.

Hey Bill,
Finally the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They finally relized how long we had been there and finished us up late Friday afternoon so we spent our 5th night and 6th day there. On the bright side we have relised we can streach our holding tank capacity for 6 days. The new system is more than I expected and the unit handles really well and for the first time in 6 years the RV stops on a dime. They also finished the work for a lot less than quoted. We hit the road this morning and are now in the land of Lincoln on old Route 66. Now all seems like a bad dream with great outcome. I will be going back there some time in the new year for another improvment.

Yea and then some with my DW shaking her head in agreement to your comments about the improvement in your rigs handling and stopping.I am so glad, with all your delays, the wait was worth it.Those new disc brakes will absolutely stop the rig and the truck and I have seen during two required panic stops.Smoking tires on the rig, but also straight as an arrow stopping rig.I, personally, will never have “magnetic” brake shoes on a rig.
Now you also know about your holding tank “day capacity” and what is possible. That is a pretty good outcome as well.
On the costing side, doesn’t surprise me about the “reduced cost” from the quote.I can speculate as to why (so can you with the wait,) but they tried to make it “right” and that’s a good thing.
I’ll trust you will enjoy the ride for years to come and will look forward to bumping into you in Elkhart again. As my wife says, all roads seem to go through Elkhart.
Let me know if I can be of any help in the future but you seem to have all well in hand.
Safe and smooth travels

Sometimes the quote will be intentionally on the high side because few people complain when the bill is less but many do when it is even a few dollars over. I've also heard, but not personally experienced, that in some states a written estimate is a binding one, and that legally the bill may not go over.
