My DW went to the AT&T store a few weeks ago and pre-ordered the new iPhone 4S to replace her iPhone 4 that I will get to replace my lost iPhone 3G.
Here's what set her off and now I'm living in a nightmare....
She pre-ordered which in my and her mind means she should get her iPhone 4S before anyone who hasn't pre-ordered. But that's not the case.
If you walk into an Apple Store and they have iPhone 4S phones in stock, you can buy one and walk out with it the same day. She has checked her order on the AT&T website and it shows the phone is backordered and not expected to be delivered for 2 weeks...in the meantime, people are walking in off the streets at some Apple Stores and getting an iPhone 4S immediately.
Now she will not rest until she finds an Apple Store with an available iPhone 4S.
She keeps repeating (and it's worrying me) "I did everything right, I pre-ordered and they are walking in and getting phones, it's not fair" Over and over I hear this.
Forget Occupying wall street, It's time to "Occupy an Apple Store" !!

I HAVE FOUND THAT "DOING THINGS RIGHT" AND "DOING THINGS ACCORDING TO THE RULES" DOES NOT ALWAYS MAKE YOU FIRST!!!

Hey Larry, when I read the subject of your post, I thought, "What does he expect? If he is Bear II, she must be a bear too!!!" Yep choosing a moniker can come back to bite you - pun intended.

Roz,
That's actually true...we are both Leos and at times you'd think we had been caged up together too long.
So these kinds of outbursts are few and far between but intense when they happen....
Update: she went to the Apple store this morning to wait for it to open so she could voice her complaint and hopefully shame them into getting her new iPhone.

I hope she had a positive outcome today at the store. It would drive me wild not get my new phone when I wanted it.
God, please grant me the gift of patience....and I want it now...please.

I'm one who usually waits for at least a few people to go before me on new things. There seems to be a fine line between the cutting edge and the bleeding edge. I'd rather someone else do the testing first, and then I'll come along and take the revised version. Of course, as my computer geek son says, "take out old bugs and put in new bugs."

To me, preorder should mean first served.

Ordinarily I would agree with this comment. However, there are times when a vendor will allow pre-orders for a special price and those that are able to buy off the shelf usually end up with regular prices.
For instance, I know of two different people who have pre-ordered a particular model of Rand McNally's GPS from Camping World at a discounted price. They were still waiting as of last week and I was seeing that model in truck stops while on vacation.
I have no idea what the circumstances are with the original poster's wife's purchase, but it might be similar.
AT&T has made my life miserable once again.
