We are both ready to leave the corporate environment and transition to the more relaxed lifestyle of a full time RVer. We don't have a timeline set up but we are working on it. We would be most appreciative of any advice that the members can provide.

Welcome Helen & Ray. There is a ton of good information both here in the forums and on the main page that Howard has written. Ask questions and we would be happy to help. My advice would be to start debt free if at all possible. After that, just enjoy this great country.

Welcome to the world of RV living.
Here are a couple of other RV related forums to look at.

If you've never been in an RV before, you might want to rent one for a few long weekends or week long trips. It will give you a good idea of the good and bad that goes with RVing. It will also give you a chance to try out different models and types of RVs.

Thank you Bear II and NorCal Dan. We are already looking into renting an RV and hitting the road for a week. We went to the convention in Hershey PA last weekend and realized that we have a lot of homework to do. We have been reading almost everything we can find online about RVing. I think the next step is to begin looking at specific models. We both agree that we would like to start with a Class A motorhome.

Helen and Ray,
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You have certainly found a website with a lot of knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful people. We all look forward to any questions that you have, so don't be afraid to ask them. I like to believe the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked and then later found to have been needed to have been asked.
You will find some folks here that have RV'ed in both motorhomes and pull trailers like fifth wheels. They can certainly give you some insight as to their experiences. In our case, I can only say that we "researched" both motorhomes and fifth wheels, but we went with the fifth wheel for different reasons.
Cost was one factor for us, as well as floorplan and the easier ability to have two vehicles capable of being driven instead of having only one and the RV. With us, we are full-timing, but are staying in one place until we retire in a few years.
Enjoy the research and lifestyle.

Welcome Helen and Ray to the best forum around. Lots of friendly and experienced folks here. It all starts with a dream and plan. We are currently in the final stage of getting rid of stuff and will be hitting the road in January 2012.
