Anyone who is traveling out there, please know that several Counties in the Southern Tier of Upstate NY & bordering northern counties of the state of PA are in State of Emergancy. We had terrential downpours starting this past Wed., with major flooding of the Susquehanna River starting Wed., really cresting today and will continue tomorrow. You may have heard the 100,000 evacuated around Wilkes-Barre, PA. In our area over 20,000 & counting, have been evacuated.
Main highways to watch are Rt. 17 (86) East & Westbound which is impassable in several counties.
We are one of the few lucky ones, we are well supplies (always prepared for the worse, hope for the best) and we are living out of Amelia, are able to help our neighbors with generator power. But we are surrounded by impassable highways & roads & are praying that the mighty Susquehanna receeds soon so supplies - like groceries & gas - can get in here.
We are planning on attending RV Hershey Show next weekend - lets hope all is clear for that ~ we got fulltiming to plan for!

One more thing, that also includes the closure of parts of Route 88. :)
Here is updated road closure listing as of this morning 9/9/11 from our local newspaper website. Be safe all.

We live in the Hershey/Hummelstown area of Dauphin County (PA).
The Clark's Ferry Bridge, which is Route 22/322 over the Susquehanna River is closed, and may not open until some time Sunday. (This is the route that people take to the Penn State games in State College) The other bridges into Harrisburg (at this point in time) are still passable. Surprisingly, Three Mile Island, which is smack in the middle of the Susquehanna River in Middletown, has had no flooding, because they have barriers in place to prevent flooding. God Bless America!
The Susquehanna River is expected to crest Saturday morning at 25 feet. (I believe flood stage is 19 feet at Harrisburg)
If anyone is planning on visiting the Hershey/Harrisburg area any time soon, the best thing to do would be to call the PA State Police (717) 783-5599 and ask about any road closures on the way to where you are going. As of 5 PM Friday, the routes into Hershey from PA Route 22 are not passable into Hershey. These include PA Route 39 and PA Route 743. The Swatara Creek at Hershey (Route 39) is at approximately 23.1 feet (flood stage either 7 or 9 feet, can't recall).
Hope this helps anyone who might need this info!
Stay high and dry!

Good news from the Hershey area. The bridge over the Swatara Creek on Route 39 into Hershey is OPEN! RV's of all sizes and types are continuing to arrive at the Giant Center in Hershey for the East Coast's biggest RV show.
All floodwaters are receeding and cleanup is in progress. The SUN is actually out today. It is beautiful!
