Hello everyone, we are doing our homework ahead of time before starting to full time RV. Our adventure will begin once our house sells here in Montana.
I have been pouring over all of the info regarding the best state to make as your home base. i have been reviewing health & auto ins., taxes, registration, etc.
We originally thought NV would be good because the health ins rates are quite low, however, vehicle registration is high. In looking into this state further, I came across something that has me a little confused and I'm hoping you can all assist me in some way.
The 30 day residency rule, does this mean if I want to vote, obtain a hunting license or register in NV that I have to stay in an RV park for 30 days prior to each event to show proof of residency?
Thanks for any help!

Hi, We currently F/T, and we are Nevada residents, have NV registrations, + drivers licenses, a business license, and are registered to vote, and have as our legal addrerss,a mailbox @ a UPS store, which has a street address, suite number, and box number.(123 Main St. #2-369,Anytown, NV). All of this is perfectly acceptable to the state of Nevada. We were NV residents before going F/T and we do spend at least 30 days (more, usually) a year in the state so we simply changed everything over. Selecting a rural county like Nye (Pahrump) outside of Vegas, or one of the rural counties outside of Reno, will cut out smog requirements, and get you the lowest insurance rates. Hope this helps. Works for us.

Felicia,
First of all, welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will find helpful and friendly folks here, about all of whom are willing to answer questions.
Since I couldn't answer your question about Nevada, I was going to provide you a link to look up rclvnv, as I knew he was a Nevada resident. However, I see he managed to answer before I got my reply posted.
Good luck with all your researching and planning.
Terry

Thank you for the answer! I must have just been reading the requirement wrong.

You are welcome. I don't know if the fact that we had everything in NV before going F/T made it easier or not, but we changed everything over in May, without any difficulty.I always understood the 30 day rule to mean that after you chose to use a Nevada address as your primary one,you must, within 30 days get NV driver licenses and register your car in Nevada.DMV fees are higher than some surrounding states, and sales tax rates vary by county. Clark (Las Vegas) and Washoe (Reno) are the highest. I am not aware that there is a requirement that you physically reside in the state for 30 days. If I find otherwise, I'll let you know.
