On ours, the wire that connects to the heating element from the switch inside the water heater compartment rubbed against the metal between the coach and the sidewall of the water heater short circuting the element. DH says to check there first. Putting a new element and switch in was pretty easy. I might also suggest if you are looking for parts to get your numbers from the schematic and then buy on Ebay. Was about 1/2 the price of the ones from Camping World or others.

Check for fuses and/or breakers first.
Second, some RV units have two switches for the electric hot water heater. For instance, our Mobile Suites has one switch in the outside compartment where one would drain the hot water tank and another switch inside the coach in the same compartment with the lights, slide switches, and holding tank indicator lights.
Check with a repairman and see if there is a way to use a multimeter to test the heating element before replacing it. It might be that some other issue is a problem instead of the element.
