We are in Logan, Utah headed to Bonneville and would like any info on what to do, where to camp and how to go about seeing the speed trials. And any other tips.
(timing trials start tomorrow Aug 9) Thanks,

Arrived at Bonneville: We arrived in Wendover today. What a place 3 casinos and salt---that is it. Read about this since a kid in high school, never DREAMED that I would ever attend, all I can say is WOW!
Of all things we are in the RV park at the NUGGET Casino full hookups----talk about being a big weenie, we plead guilty.
Drove to the salt and found just as described lots of RV’s already in the "bend". Personally I would like to be over there but this minimizes damage!!!!! Did I mention just how HOT it is but it is very dry and as soon as the sun sets, and I mean as soon as, it cools off. Any shade and it is cool problem is NO shade except what you make.
Here, at the casino rv park, it is $35per day or $200 per week but not a lot of spaces. 2 left tonight. Parking at the flats appears to be real easy, just pull over and park, bingo. (Parking is NOT actually on the salt but on ground nearby. As early as it is I can tell this is going to be a blast not just on the track, the cars and all, saw a guy in a teepee, another really heavy guy in a Teardrop, and every type of tent, weird homemade truck campers, you get the picture. Oh, and big diesel pushers out there as well. Time trials start Friday and continue. We have met several car owners and I cannot wait until it starts. But there will be plenty of "sights" to see in the interim. Visited the WWII airfield and museum, where most B 17 and B 29 crews trained, including one of my cousins. CCC

I wasn't able to find too much information on this RV park other than what you posted. Let us know how you like it. It sounds like something I want to put on my 'places to go' list.

The small rv park is owned by the Nugget CASINO. Only abt 20 really nice first class spaces with all hookups, appears to be very new as in the last month or so. The Shell station and C store is very impressive, may I say beautiful and this is not an overstatement.

I haven't made it to SpeedWeek (it's on my bucket list) yet but have gone to the speed trials at El Mirage Dry Lake in California. It's the same group as Bonneville so a lot of the racers use El Mirage for practice and tuning.
It's a blast to walk through the pits and see all the exotic machinery...some of the engines look like they belong in a space ship.
I watched a guy pouring some bright green crystals into a stainless steel tank on his streamliner. Then in another tank he poured in a methanol mix. He said the methanol is mixed with the crystals in a third tank and thats what the engine runs on.
The ear pounding sounds of the engines and watching the racers fly down the track at speeds in excess of 300MPH is amazing.
I haven't been in a couple of years but they used CB radios for communications, so you were able to hear what was going on and the run results from anywhere along the course.

Spent all morning in the PIT area and in the Tech area where all of the cars/motorcycles are inspected. As the kids say, AWSOM, I was right there lestening to the discussions between the participants and the tech people. The salt itself is a fantastic site, as far as one can see. Make plans to attend, not to miss, just like Oshkosh, Wisconsin for airplanes, dont miss it. Even my wife enjoyed both.

Racing begins Sat AUg 13 at approx 10AM after drivers mtg at the start line, and teams drive the track to find turnouts and return road. Try CB channel 1 or 10,(if local truckers or locals sit on their cb mikes) 1610AM will have broadcasts from both short & long course start lines. Look for the "save the salt"booth near the pit entrance & race impound, and please donate to help (save the salt)! for more: http://www.scta-bni.org go fast, have fun,be safe

Loretta, I dont thinks so. I tried to access snapfish from this RV Dreams and the link would not work?
Have tried several times using both of the links that I posted, they will work when I sent them to sev friends by e mail? There should show on the left side of the page 7 albums listed and the first pic of each album on the right? Did you see that?
Thanks for your effort. CCC
