I am looking at enclosing the underside of our 5th wheel to keep the "Fury Kids" and other critters from getting under there. I am looking at using Lattace pannels and was wondering if anyone out there has done this. I am looking at doing this as a tempory messure while we are stationary for a long period of time and not damage the skin of the RV when removed.
Any suggestions?

Lattice will not keep things out. Try using 1/4" luan plywood, paint it white first....

Luan is easy to work with, but it will absorb water, warp and rot. Try to find a vinyl or fiberglass product. Our motorhome is sealed with a onepiece fiberglass sheet.

Bob & Cheri,
If I read between the lines I'm guessing you want to create a skirting around your RV rather than cover the underside of the RV.
I've seen all sorts of material used for temporary skirting. Your idea of lattice is good for bigger creatures. Something solid like corrugated fiberglass panels or thick plastic sheeting would prevent smaller critters from getting in.
There is a product carried at Home centers that is used as a membrane for shower pans. It's a very thick pvc material that is flexible. I don't remember the cost per linear foot but it comes on a roll and is 4ft wide so you would be able to cut it in half. I would create a frame out of PVC pipe and secure this membrane to it and then stake the frame around the RV to create the barrier. The stuff I saw is grey, but I'm sure you would be able to paint it.

I am leaning more toward the lattice mainly to keep the "Fury Kids" out from underneath the rig. Just dirt and they get dirty enough with out getting under there and digging holes to keep cool. I never thought of building a frame from PVC. like pipe. I could then make it moveable for easy storage when we are on the road.
thanks for the tips.

The lattice will certainly keep your fury kids (dog, cat?) from under the coach but likely nothing any smaller so "critters" will still have full access. You just need to decide what you do or do not want to have access and make the holes small enough to keep them out. You could always use lattice for the looks and then add some version of chicken wire should the holes prove to be too large.

Whatever you do it needs to be secured. As with anything RV related, wind is your enemy. I've seen many rigs with something that looks like what this company sells. Visit http://www.rvskirting.com/ to see what they sell. I know you can buy direct and do the install yourself and save some money.
