Dish network TV & Earthlink satellite internet question

Ok, I will be the first to admit that I'm not a real techie-type so I apologize upfront if I'm asking a stupid question!
At our house, we have 2 satellite dishes - 1 for Dish Network TV & the other for Earthlink satellite internet. When we go on the road, is there a rooftop sat dish system that will receive the Earthlink internet & Dish network? I know people have talked about having Dish Network tv on the road, but I'm wondering if we'll have to change our internet provider?

It's most likely that your Earthlink satellite internet is provided by Hughesnet. Do a search for satellite internet, MotoSAT Datastorm, Hughesnet satellite internet, etc. and you will likely find all of the information you need. If you look at your satellite internet modem, does it has HN7000S or DW7000 on the front? If you I am right on track. You can take this on the road with the proper hardware and get the same service when you travel that you currently receive at home. If, by chance, the modem says anything about Wildblue then you are completely done as this service cannot be used anywhere other than where you are currently located.

Thanks so much for your reply! We do have the HN7000S modem. From what you've said, it sounds like we can take that along. Do we get the Hughesnet service thru the Datastorm dish? And do we then add something to get the Dish Network service? We currently have Dish network HD with 1 DVR box that controls 2 TVs.

Yes, either a Datastorm automatic antenna or one of the less expensive (but large and time consuming) tripod mounted manual antennas will get you online with your Hughesnet service anywhere you travel. Of course you need a clear view of the Southern sky but otherwise, you will be online just as if you were at home. For TV you will need a separate antenna. I recommend the Winegard Trav'ler is you want an automatic roof mounted antenna or, again, you can buy a manual tripod mounted antenna. To receive all of the Dish Network programming you will need a Dish 500 antenna and if you also want to received the DN HDTV programming you will need the Dish 1000 antenna (1000.2) to receive 110, 119 and 129. There are other options including a dome antenna but I don't recommend these for Dish Network unless you are happy with only 1 single tuner receiver and nothing else.

You can take this on the road with the proper hardware and get the same service when you travel that you currently receive at home.
