Glad to be able to join your forum. It's good to be able to discuss with others who are wanting or are living the RV dream. Hubby & I have talked about doing this on and off for the pass couple of years. We have decided with the state of economy and his loss of the job. We would start tomorrow but unfortunately we're in crunch mode for making payments. So we decided to make a three year plan at which time we will be fifty. However, if we can get on the road sooner we will. We will be attending the rally in Hershey, this Sept. Here's to hoping at gathering some good information about full time RV life.
Our main object in waiting is because of our house. Hoping the economy will bounce back some and we can at least be able to resale. Nothing in our neighborhood is moving or takes a long time to sale. Once the house is gone...we plan to stay in the area and for me to keep working at the hospital and save up some money. We have already decided to buy our truck used along with our fifth wheel. Do not plan on having to worry about making payments. Want to be able to budget ourselves to under $2,000 a month and I've been reading where others are doing it on less.
So that is our game plan... Glad to be here.

Welcome Becky,
Hopefully the housing market will turn around soon and you and many others will be able to sell their stix and brix houses.
If you have questions about the lifestyle, be sure to ask. There's a great bunch of folks here that will be more than happy to give you answers if they can.
Good luck,
Jim

Just a quick thought on house selling...
Like you folks the Brideandjoy and I thought we'd have to wait a couple of years, in our case also do some repairs and what not.
When we figured out the cost of repairs and the cost of carrying the house for those years and deducted them from a "good" sale price and put the house on the market for that number. The plan being as we did the repairs and or put more into the house the price we would accept would creep upward. We had an offer in less then three months and sold it in less then five as is where is no more payments no more real estate taxes no more upkeep at long distance.
Now if your underwater on your mortgage this may not work unless your bank will accept a short sale they might with your husband out of work.

Hi there!
Thanks for the welcomes and the input on the house. We have debated on not fixing vs fixing and waiting vs not waiting. Our backs are against the wall on the house. So we are holding out and waiting. (Will have to find more out on what a short sale is) We are also working on a budget and getting it going and sticking to it. Budgets are like diets...you really have to stick with it or otherwise they don't work. lol I am horrible when it comes to diets. LOL (a bit a humor is always good) We are very excited about rv'ing full time. My family has always camped. Then John and me got married and tented cause that was all we could afford. Then later on we got a couple of different trailers, Minnie Winnie, Yellowstone, and toy haulers. The only thing we haven't had is a fifth wheel. We noticed alot of folks who full time have fifth wheels! We have been looking at them. I honestly think that a fifth wheel is the way to go. Compared to other campers and motorhomes the fifth wheel seems to give more room and more of a home feel to it. We like motorhomes and owned two of them. We atv ride too and would like to take our atv's with us especially out west to Utah. So a combo of fifth wheel with garage is going to be our goal. We believe this will suit our full time lifestyle.
*Update...John got a lead on a possible job! I'm excited! Let's hope it pans out!
Talk to you all real soon, Becky
