I've seen several RV's with a screw driver antenna mounted on the ladder that will tip over and lay flat on top of the RV. Anyone have plans or a mount they would sell? If you see one on an RV in your travels please ask them where they got it and let me know please, thanks.

A friend of mine built his own antenna and mount the his RV. I don't know what a screw driver antenna is but my friend is coming for a visit tomorrow and I will ask him about this. I've been wanting to get into Ham radio but keep dragging my feet. My main interest would be, at least to start, in the 2M band, maybe some type of emergency communications.

As it turns out my buddy just mounted a screw driver antenna on his MH. I will send you a PM with his email address so you may contact him directly. I already discussed this with him and he is expecting to hear from you.

Was that a flat head or Phillips head screwdriver?

Bill, you need one of each. One for the positive signal (plus/Phillips) and one for the negative signal (minus/flat head).

Thanks for the contact Dan. I'll send him and e-mail right off.
Rest of you, no that's a can of OJ and a snipit of Vodka mounted in a helical wound container. :)

I just mounted my new antenna to the RV. I would have gone with the screwdriver antenna but wanted something I could also use in the condo when not rv'ing. I had no place for radials (counterpoise) with the vertical so I went with the magnetic loop. I haven't tried xmit yet but receive works good. Listened to a guy in Florida last night on 20m. Hope it talks as good as it listens.
