In one week from today we will head out on a three and a half week trip. It is mostly scheduled due to some obligations, but we have in between days so that we will be able to relax along the way as well. The rally in Goshen is first up. Then a convention in IL for me. A week later we have a wedding in NE. After that we will need to head home.
We will be going FT after retirement in four years, but right now we get only long vacations.
This week we will get our MPG ready to travel. Any packing advice, cooking advice, or other advice would be welcome.

My best advice would be to plan menus for your travel days and prepare things ahead.
For instance, we're planning to go to Daytona Beach, FL for the July 4th Nascar weekend. Normally this is a liesurely trip for us, but because Johnny is working and had to take time off earlier in the year for surgury it's going to be a bit rushed. We need to make the trip there from where we are in Arkansas in 2 days.
Before we leave I'll make sure we have 2 nice, easy to prepare dinners in the fridge. Usually that is something like a couple of steaks for one day and marinated chicken breasts for the other. Then I'll make a couple of saleds like a potato saled and a pasta saled. I'll also have some veggies that are easy to grill, like zucchini and some fresh tomotoes. Doing this makes it easy to pull out the grill and have a nice, healthy, relaxing dinner ready in about 30 minutes.
For lunch while traveling I'll make sure we have some good rolls and roasted turkey or salami and cheese for sandwiches. Add chips and fresh fruit and we're good to go.
Breakfast is usually at a truckstop, since we have to get fuel for the day anyway and it avoids a morning clean up.
Once we arrive at our destination, I'll go grocery shopping for the duration of our stay and then prepare for the trip home before we leave. We usually have some leftovers from the feasting at the track to snack on on the way home, but otherwise it's a similar plan.
Basically I try to make sure we have meals for the time we're on the road and the first night we arrive at our destination so that we don't have to eat out a lot or find groceries when moving.

Take about half the clothes you think you will need.
I usually take more clothes than I use even for a long trip. I end up wearing shorts and tee shirts most of the time and rarely touch the long pants and shirts I bring. Most RV parks have laundry facilities, so it's convenient to wash and dry daily if needed.
I'm down to bringing about a weeks worth of clothes (3 pairs of shorts, 3 tee shirts, bathing suit, 2 long pants and 2 dress shirts).
If I could only get my DW to cut down we'd be in great shape. She brings more clothes than she would need for the whole trip and then ends up only wearing about a weeks worth of it. We have a washer dryer in the 5th wheel so she washes our clothes each night. No need to get more out of the closet.
Gee I hope she doesn't read this post.....

Jo Ann, from reading RV-Dreams you already know that things may not go as planned. Or should I say un-planned things may happen. Just remember relax, roll with the punches, have fun. And remember there are WAL-MARTS all over the country, if you forget to pack something or need something visit one, they probably have it. The other thing you may find out is at the end of 3 1/2 weeks you wont be ready to go home.

We had to interrupt our trip and go home after two weeks. Our adult daughter had and emergency appendectomy. We retrieved her from a friend and took her along to finish the trip which included a wedding. We had planned to meet up with her at the wedding, so it worked out for all of us. The interruption just meant a few extra miles and missing some of what we wanted to see, but we still got to do most of what we had planned.
We also got to introduce ourselves to Howard and Linda at the Heartland rally in Goshen!!! Nice meeting you, Howard and Linda!

Sounds like you already have "plans in jello", which is how so many full-timers live.
As long as it doesn't rattle your cage and you roll with the punches, you''ll be fine.
